Description

The surviving members of draconimorpha can be classified into 5 distinct clades: Thalattophidia (sea serpents), Ophiosuchoidea (wyrms), Volanosauria (wyverns), Therosuchia (Drakes) and Draconia (dragons). What single gift once engrossed my three boys so much that they stopped opening Christmas presents — I swear — for a full 15 minutes? A gorgeous compendium called DR. ERNEST DRAKE'S DRAGONOLOGY: THE COMPLETE BOOK OF DRAGONS. In his afterword, Dr. Drake reveals that one of the crucial goals of dragonologists is to preserve the magnificent creatures of their study wherever possible - a goal this tongue-in-cheek volume most affectionately achieves. An incomparable gift for secret dragonologists everywhere! The Dragon Star - a powerful stone guarded by a European Dragon must be rescued from Dark Dragonologists.

Said to originate from the library of eminent Victorian dragonologist Ernest Drake, this book imparts to readers the secrets of the ancient science of dragonology. It includes a host of novelties such as old letters, magic dust, dragon scales, gems, spells in envelopes and booklets of riddles.

This is an amazing book. I discovered it in the book section of K-Mart, of all places. I couldn't buy it just then, but I remembered the title and put it on my wish-list. This was one of many books I asked for last Christmas and my mom got it for me. Books like this are really great in an age when fewer and fewer people are reading books. Even my husband, who hates to read was interested in this book. A person who has been hypnotised by a dragon should be made to do a large number of complicated mathematical sums.

For true believers only, a lavishly illustrated reproduction of a legendary volume by the world's most distinguished dragonologist. Don't let it fall into the wrong hands! The dragon's eye, Grand Haven, MI: Brilliance Audio, 2011, ISBN 978-1-61106-641-8, OCLC 732091572 , retrieved 2021-04-08

I read the whole thing to my youngest daughter, some of the words were beyond her comprehension level--not to mention pronunciation. We had fun with it. Funny! The author tries to be serious in a pretend kind of way. Douglas Carrel, Chief Draughtsman: A native of Scotland, Douglas Carrel was clearly a dragonologist of some standing, and often accompanied Dr. Drake on some of his more fruitful expeditions. In a letter from Constantinople to the editor he says, "It is with considerable sense of honour, and no small amount of pride, that I lend my hand to the compiling of this most worthy volume . . . Ultimately, I feel that all of us—within this privileged circle in particular—are duty-bound to preserve and perpetuate the love and lore of dragons." It has lots of flaps to look behind, and messages in pouches and other neat things which make the book extra fun.

Another notable trait of true dragons is their remarkably high intelligence, on par with that of cetaceans, elephants and in some cases even primates. The Korean Yong is a long thin dragon making it a subspecies of the Asian Lung. The Yong is the biggest lung species being 50 feet long and 8 to 10 feet high. They are narrower and longer than Chinese Lung and (contrary to popular opinion) can also be distinguished by having 4 toes relative to a Lung's 5 or Ryu's 3 and can also be noted to have larger scales than other species and fewer spines. Dugald Steer also wrote a series of children's books called the Dragonology Chronicles based around the lore created in the Dragonology books. There are four books in this series. The Dragon's Eye [10] published in 2006, The Dragon Diary [11] published in 2008, The Dragon's Apprentice [12] published in 2011, and The Dragon Prophecy [13] published in 2012. This video was made by Javerage's Face and used with permission. It does contain some factual errors and is provided only for an engaging introduction to the subject. The Magnus subspecies (upon which most research has been done) is comparable in size to a European Dragon with a length of 40 feet and a height of between 12 and 15 feet. Smaller subspecies have been found on mountains with a permanent snow covering.
