The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. Future Hollywood actor Robert Shaw (The Sting, Jaws) made his small screen debut as ex- pirate Dan Tempest, the leader of a small band of freebooters who roamed the Caribbean Seas in the 1720's on their ship The Sultana. The diary dates go from Oct 14, 1829 to Dec 2, 1834 so I guess another series was intended as the opening of each episode states 'A settlers diary 1829-1836'. Light reading creases, some shelf and edge wear, small sticker tear to front cover, light foxing to inside covers and endpapers. Show more Show less Starring Oliver Tobias, James Condon, Helen Morse and Elizabeth Crosby, and produced by Tony Essex, 'Luke's Kingdom' is an epic adventure series set in Australia during the early nineteenth century. When d'Artagnan and his father are attacked on the way to Paris resulting in the father's death, the young swordsman seeks revenge on the murderer.

When the Disney Channel contracted the UK ITV broadcaster HTV Wales to bring to the screen this major drama series, it realised a legacy left by Robert Louis Stevenson when he wrote his classic thriller more than a hundred years ago. All in all I can say I am glad I watched it, as it was an interesting series that made some attempts to cover the colonisation more truthfully than the general rose-coloured versions of difficult stories that appear on the small screen, but I can't say that I really enjoyed it. He seems to enjoy the freedom, too much, and does anything he wants - floggings, murder, and incest are all included - but seems to be totally inept at fighting unless it is bullying others. Tobias is excellent as the determined, violent and very flawed 'hero'(you'll see why) who will stop at nothing to protect his family's land, but all the cast are good and the stories are well written and filmed, you will get frustrated at Luke's father, who just does not get it!As quintessentially British as the location for its deceptively simple, but brilliantly effective premise, Fawlty Towers ranks as one of the most consistently hilarious thirty-minutes of comedy to have ever graced the television screen. His father and brother appear totally spineless, although the line adopted for the series is that they are fish out of water and good Christians.

Genteel Jason, kind-hearted Samuel (Gerard Maguire), fiery Luke (former Arthur of the Britonsstar Oliver Tobias) and their sister Jassy (Elisabeth Crosby) are to establish a sheep farm on land which has been bequeathed to Jason.Guests stars on the show included Jack Thompson, John Meillon (pictured), Peter Sumner, Max Cullen, Cul Cullen, Judy Morris, Colin Croft, Chris Haywood, David Gulpilil and Kate Fitzpatrick. By episode four, Jason concedes that his son's more brutal view is the right one and he somehow falls in line. The series starred Oliver Tobias as an Englishman who, in 1829, emigrates to Australia with his father and siblings to settle on a land grant in New South Wales.

As they face the struggles of fitting into this strange new world, the family equip themselves with arms and supplies, and set off across the sweltering plains only to strengthen Luke's resolve to become the leader of the land. Little aired since that date, it's a surprisingly lavish affair with a large cast, huge scope, and plenty of production value. Naturally all of the residual British military are cads, bounders and buffoons, though the convicts are often portrayed as decent of desperate men, still struggling to get an even break. Overall, I would say that, for those who remember this with affection and who are able to look over the flaws of the print, there is much here to enjoy.

It's 1829, Jason Firbeck, a retired naval Leiutenant, recently widowed arrives with his family - Samuel, his elder son, Luke, his second son and Jassy his daughter - in NSW, where land granted by influential friends, supposedly awaits him. The recently widowed and retired naval lieutenant James Firbeck takes his family, sons, Samuel and Luke and daughter Jassy to New South Wales to claim a grant of land. I hadn't seen it before, and it is slightly worrying that I now look forward to the different idents, break bumpers (also present on all episodes) and end credits as much as the programmes - thank you Network! He displayed a ruthless and decidedly cruel streak and was motivated by just two things – his desire to succeed as a rancher by any means and his quasi-incestuous love for his sister Jassy. Though Australia was already fast-filling with expelled criminals, the Firbecks, a fine upstanding family, leave their Yorkshire home for the promised land.
