I loved every part of this book and it literally had me hooked since the very first chapter to the last one with it intense and insane storyline. The last chapters had me screaming and crying and sobbing 😭 because what was that! I NEED ANSWERS! I let it spill out through my mouth and my eyes and my fingers and the tips of my hair. I let it erupt all the way to the sky— past the stars, the moon, reaching for Nyaxia herself.

This book is about Oraya, the human adopted daughter of the Vampire King, Victor, trying to survive in a world of predators that's designed to kill her. She enters a tournament a la Hunger Games style to try and win a wish from the Goddess Nyaxia and change her fate. To survive the tournament, she has to team up with Rhain, a vampire from a rival clan and truths start to come out altering the way she sees the world around her and her loyalties. there were a lot of holes in the world building and it made me so angry because they could've been easily explained in the beginning. so there are 3 different vampire clans, the bloodborn, the shadowborn and the nightborn. why does everyone hate the bloodborn? what is the conflict between the hiaj and rishan? is it only about power? about revenge? and revenge for what? for overthrowing each other in the past? i. don't. get. it Do you want to change this world, little serpent? Then climb your cage until you are so high no one can catch you. Break its bars and make them your weapons. Nothing is sharper. I know because I did it.” And when I finally was able to stop thinking about it, I was asleep, which in my opinion was wasted time I could have spent with Oraya and Raihn and Mische and the cruel world this book takes place in. I absolutely loved Oraya from the start. She’s strong, determined, and intelligent. The fact that so many underestimate her, makes her successes even more satisfying to read about. She’s also very sympathetic, and it was easy for me to feel her pain and confusion while she goes through life-changing moments in this story.

Lots and lots of potential here. Books featuring vampires that don't sparkle but rather are lethal, deadly, and batshit crazy should automatically be given a chance here. God, these two are just so freaking hot and sexy and adorable at the same time. I loved their chemistry so much and how they hated each other so much in the start only to fall in love with each other later. They understand and cared for each other when they got hurt. Raihn always understood the complexity of Oraya while Oraya knew that Raihn may be a Vampire but his heart was always human. He cared so much for his loved ones.
