Airflow Developments Ltd shall not be liable for any loss, injury or other consequential damage, in the event of a failure of the equipment or arising from, or in connection with, the equipment excepting only that nothing in this condition shall be construed as to exclude or restrict liability for negligence. Full details at airflow.com/terms In a survey carried out by ventilation specialist Vent-Axia, 40% of respondents said that they or their children had been woken in the night by a noisy bathroom fan. Even the cheapest fans are usually very quiet out of the box, but as the motor bearings start to wear – typically after about two years with low-end models – the blades can start to oscillate against the main housing, producing an annoying rattle in the process. A higher-quality fan should last longer, but if you value quietness then at some point you’ll probably need to repair or replace your fan. How do you install a bathroom extractor fan? Model above is for basic on/off switching. Choose an optional control module to upgrade fan for Pullcord, Pull cord with adjustable timer, Humidity, pull cord with timer overrun, motion sensor with timer overrun, Motion sensor/humidity/timer . Don’t forget to add the control module you want. Only low voltage module fits low voltage fans. It/s so iCON easy Applications: To replace the IPX cover, line up the L (Left) and R (Right) indicators on the main body of the fan (Fig. 6) with the L and R indicator on the IPX cover (Fig. 7). Lightly press the IPX cover onto the main body. This standard 30 model (72591601) is suitable for installation into zone 3 of the bathroom and offers basic on/off switching. Choose an optional control module to expand the functionality and automation:Pullcord, Timer, Humidity or Motion Sensing options.

The Airlfow Icon 30 fan is very powerful. With an extract rate of 32 litres a second, it meets the building regulations for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. For fans mounted in zones 1 & 2 as defined in BS 7671:2018, additional protection must be provided by a Residual Current Device (RCD) not exceeding 30mA as well as having an Arc Fault Detection Device (AFDD). SAFETY FIRST: ALWAYS ISOLATE THE FAN UNIT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE DOING ANY WORK ON THE FAN / MODULE. Make provision for the electric supply cable and wall plugs / appropriate fittings using the main body as a template. Level using guides below the L and R symbols. (see Fig. 6) Position the fan so cable entry and fitting holes align with those on the mounting surface. Feed through the cable and fit the fan. (Fig. 6)Model above is for basic on/off switching. Choose an optional control module to upgrade fan for Pullcord, Timer, Humidity or Motion Sensing operation. Don’t forget to add the control module you want. Any module fits any fan. Its so iCON easy! Applications The precise duration of the overrun is normally configured during installation, with most fans offering a range between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. You might as well tend towards the latter end of the scale as the cost is very low: on average, a fan like this uses around 8W. Vent-Axia has really pushed the boat out with this brand-new model. Aside from shifting up to 39l of damp air per second, this bathroom extractor comes crammed with more sensor tech than any other model on the market. In fact, it has a sensor for everything, even odour. Yes, that’s right, when this clever little air mover detects a nasty smell, it either switches itself on or, if already running, speeds up the fan, returning the bathroom to its original sweet-smelling scent in a thrice.

iCONsmart has several features included as standard and can also be fitted with digital micro modules to give a range of extra control options. Standard Features Finally, if you think you (or anyone else in the house) will forget to turn the fan on, consider a model with a humidity sensor. This automatically activates the fan when the level of moisture in the air exceeds a certain threshold. This sensor may need occasional cleaning, though, or the accumulation of dust or grime will hinder its effectiveness. What about noise?

The best bathroom extractor fans you can buy in 2023

Most domestic bathroom extractors attach to a 100mm hole in the outside wall. If you’re replacing a standard-sized extractor fan, this hole will already be present and you should be able to install the new one yourself. Before you remove the old fan, it’s a good idea to take a photo of its wiring for later reference – and make absolutely sure you shut off the mains power before you take the old one’s front housing off. Fan and ducting should be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis to maintain fan performance. The external housing of the fan can be wiped with a damp cloth. The PureAir Sense comes with two spigots (or sleeves): one for standard 100mm installation and another for larger 125mm portals. The larger spigot is the one to fit if you want to benefit from its excellent 39l per second flow rate. That said, its standard 32l per second flow rate is still better than most and easily good enough for the majority of bathroom installations. The iCONsmart 15 is IPX5 rated and therefore it is suitable for mounting in bathrooms (in zone 1 and 2). The icon 72683501 is mains voltage(240v) IPX4 rated and is suitable for installation into zone 3 of a bathroom or toilet. It may be flush mounted in either the wall or ceiling and with a low profile fascia, sits unobtrusively in any room. With an air extraction rate of 76m3 per hour, it easily surpasses building regulations.

When the iCONsmart is first powered on, you will hear the initial reset for 10-15 seconds. This is normal and will also occur if the fan is in its reset mode. App Control and Setup Do not place the fan near any direct heat sources, e.g. radiant heaters, or where the ambient temperature can exceed 40°C (104°F).This really is an excellent extractor that uses just 2W of electricity when running continuously and no more than 5W at full pelt. It’s also one of the most attractive models around – the fascia can be used bare or with the included white magnetic cover – and one of the very quietest. Do not use household cleaners containing abrasives. Cleaning of the internal parts such as the impeller should be carried out by using a soft brush. Never clean any parts of the fan assembly by immersing in water or using a dishwasher. Model above is for basic on/off switching. Choose an optional control module to upgrade fan for Pull cord, Pull cord with adjustable timer, Humidity, pull cord with timer overrun, motion sensor with timer overrun, Motion sensor/humidity/timer . Don’t forget to add the control module you want. Only low voltage module fits low voltage fans. It/s so iCON easy Applications:

All electrical installation must be carried out by an approved electrician in accordance with Part "P" U.K. Building Regulations and to the latest IET standards, or the appropriate regulations in the country of installation. Please note: While the Icon 30 uses 4" inch ducting it does require a 6" hole in the wall or ceiling for flush fitting. The model above is for basic on/off switching. Choose an optional control module to upgrade fan for Pullcord, Timer, Humidity or Motion Sensing operation. Don’t forget to add the control module you want. Any module fits any fan. Its so iCON easy!iCONsmart has been CB tested and FCC certified to demonstrate the thoughtful engineering behind the fan design. It has been awarded the TUV certification for its safety, functionality and quality. If you don’t already have a fan, you’ll need to get in a qualified builder to make the hole and install the wiring. Be aware that there are regulations governing where your fan can be located: if you want to put a fan in Zone 1 (the area within a shower or 2.25m above a bath) or Zone 2 (60cm from Zone 1), it must be a low-voltage SELV fan with a transformer, or an AC-powered model that’s IPX5-certified. Most of our recommendations below are intended for use outside of Zone 2, but the layout of your bathroom may dictate your options. Ensure that flexible duct connections are not over tightened to the spigots. To maximise the air flow, rigid ducting should be used where possible. The fan and ducting should be installed in accordance with the requirements of the Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide, part of Part F of the Building Regulations.
