It's not overly intrusive which is great because the thickness of memory foam around the internal heel collar is just about perfect.The toe box allows for good splay of the toes and while it appears shallow, there is enough stretch to accommodate many foot types. Without further ado, let's get into the analysis of the main features of the new Brooks Transcend 7. While below the rail the shoe was flexible where it needed to be to transition well for me, higher up along the rail things slowed down and created a feeling of a hitch in moving forward.

I personally also am not a fan of rails based shoes such as the Transcend which in fact are more focused on knee stability than pronation control. It’s upper is not as premium as the Transcend’s upper, but everything else tips too deeply into the Topo’s favor to not go that route.

We've shifted our focus beyond the feet to the most injury-prone part of a runner's body: the knees. My theory is that the Guiderails place your foot in a way that’s easier to hit the ‘sweet spot’ of the shoe. If you need minimal support, I’d still recommend the inherently stable Glycerin, but if you have major needs, the Transcend is for you. We challenge ourselves to make the best running gear in the world because we want to run in it, too.
