Description

A brand new rugby game has just been released today. We felt it was necessary here at Rugby Onslaught to give an honest review of the game after giving it a go. New! Side-line camera angle and drop goal camera allowing for closer simulation to a real broadcast view. Graphically it's a slight step up from RC3. Certainly in terms of player likenesses, with a significant increase in player faces for the licenced teams.

New! Ai formations and improved positioning of players making the game more realistic and challenging for those experienced Rugby heads.

About The Game

Played an hour of Rugby Challenge 4. It’s like they noticed the thing people talked about most from the previous games were the glitches, and decided to double down. It’s remarkable how much glitchier, judderyier, more broken, and less fun this is than RC1 from 2011. As has been mentioned elsewhere, this is a 'Early Access' version, though the majority of the modes are included from the start, except online play and some career enhancements. As it's currently digital only, I'll mention that it's around 22GB on the PS4, so a pretty modest file size. If there’s a sport, you’d better bet Mario has played it, and he even stars in one of the best rugby games. Rugby is no different, and after first trying his hand at rugby sevens at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Mario & Sonic’s 2020 outing is a surprisingly streamlined version of the game.

It felt like EA were on the verge of creating the perfect rugby game so it’s disappointing this was the last game in their series. This is an excellent game and in my opinion, probably still the bestrugby game out there. Sure the graphics ain’t good but it is from 1997. It is very playable and has a good selection of teams the best of which are naturally New Zealand. NEW! AI formations and improved positioning of players making the game more realistic and challenging for those experienced rugby heads. The AI is still severely lagging in some areas. Pretty much all teams you come up against will throw the ball about and offload like no one's business! Which makes for a pretty messy midfield at times. There is also some good old commentary provided by sports broadcasting legends like Grant Nisbett and Justin Marshall , with French commentary by Eric Bayle and Thomas Lombard, more than 12 prestigious competitions to enjoy such as Premiership Rugby, Super Rugby, Men’s 7’s and the Currie Cup, whilst all of a single player match, multi-team tournaments, extensive Career Mode and a Be A Pro mode are also in place.THE DEFINITIVE RUGBY EXPERIENCE Multiple Game Modes including: Single Match, Multi-team Competition, extensive multi-year Career Mode and Be a Pro Mode So what do you get for your money? Well, Rugby Challenge 4 on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch promises to deliver the optimum rugby experience, with different move sets, the inclusion of Women’s Sevens Rugby and the chance to make your ultimate rugby player through the use of both a kit and player creator. You’ll also be able to work with the AI to dictate formations and positionings, whilst new side-line cams and drop goal viewpoints promise a more realistic broadcast experience.

The focus for Rugby Challenge 4 has been to build on and improve the gameplay of our previous Rugby games, while retaining its essence with the use of the original signature animations -now Spectacularly enhanced by the Unreal Engine.A. Initially PlayStation 4 andXbox One, then onPC and Nintendo Switch at a slightly later date. FEATURES It made computer game history in theAmigacommunity when it received a review score of 2% in the UK magazine Amiga Power Not necessarily the best, not even necessarily good, but it was the first and was a lot of fun to play, especially with friends. Those classic SEGA sounds also make it amazing to play. Real sports broadcasting commentary with Grant Nisbett and Justin Marshall. French commentary by Eric Bayle and Thomas Lombard. If you've played RC3, then you'll already be pretty familiar with the game, as there's not a great deal different from that offering and the way it plays in terms of controls and general feel is pretty much identical.

This is almost the exact same as you would find in Rugby Challenge 3 with the same functions for almost every part of the scrum. We are beyond disappointed with this.Dive into a match solo or with friends, create your own pro and climb the ranks, or coach an entire team in Career mode. International and local competitions – including the all new Men’s 7s Rugby, Women’s 7s Rugby, Premiership Rugby, Super Rugby and Currie Cup – or even create your own! The focus for Rugby Challenge 4 has been to build on and improve the gameplay of our previous rugby games while retaining its essence with the use of the original signature animations, now spectacularly enhanced by the Unreal Engine. All-Star commentary real sports broadcasting commentary with grant nisbett and Justin Marshall. French commentary by Eric bayle and Thomas lombard. Scrums appear to be very much the same as they have been in previous instalments of the game. Personally, it seems like a lot of work would be needed to create a new way for this to be done. We feel this is a very clunky way to play out one of the key resets in rugby, however.
