Description

When Liltotto tries to use the poison of Escolopendra on Loly and Menoly, they are interrupted by the arrival of Harribel, Nelliel, and Grimmjow. Before the fighting can escalate further, however, a small Garganta opens up nearby as everyone present feels a massive, unidentified Reiatsu. Grimmjow notes the Reiatsu feels similar to Shinji Hirako, a mix between Shinigami and Hollow. To their surprise, a young, androgynous child emerges from it, but is confused to find Quincy there. [9] Spanner in the Works: Aura turns out to be one, as she had developed a motherly love for Hikone, and thusly, her QR code messages to Yukio were actually a signal that she intended to betray Tokinada. Grimmjow notes that even though Ikomikidomoe resembles an Adjuchas, its power is greater than that of most Vasto Lorde. Harribel, however, recognizes Ikomikidomoe as an ancient and powerful Hollow from Baraggan Louisenbairn's time as ruler, leading her to wonder how that Hollow wound up as a Zanpakutō in Soul Society. Grimmjow enters his Resurrección, Pantera, while Harribel and Nelliel follow up with their own Resurrección. [6] In an effort to prevent Hikone from entering the final battle (so he doesn't get hurt), Hisagi attempts to bind him with a Kidō spell; Hikone simply brushes off the attempt and instantaneously incapacitates Hisagi before he can even react. Colony Drop: Upon realizing the alliance is going to defeat him, Tokinada attempts to crash his simulated world onto the real-life Karakura town.

Intrepid Reporter: Hisagi's initial role in the novel, according to the novel summary. A lot of the early novel is even him interviewing various individuals in preparation for a newspaper article he's been commissioned to write. In the Seireitei, a few days after the end of the war with the Wandenreich, Shunsui asks Aizen if he has any last words before he is re-incarcerated in the Muken. While awaiting Aizen's words, Shunsui contemplates the massive losses of life the Gotei 13 experienced at the hands of the Quincy soldiers. While Orihime Inoue has been invaluable in helping the recovery and even reviving some of the recently deceased, even her powers have their limits. As a consequence, the Shinigami were becoming disheartened until news of victory reinvigorated them. [6] Several days later, Shūhei Hisagi is preforming his duties as the editor-in-chief of the Seireitei Communication, during which he visits Kūkaku Shiba. While the Shiba family may have fallen in status, Hisagi notes they're still powerful and influential. Therefore, Hisagi requests her help in creating an article about the successful protection of the Soul King and the victory over the Quincy. Kūkaku replies that she only sent Ichigo's group towards the Palace, and redirects Hisagi towards her brother, Ganju Shiba, for more details. [8] At the same time, in the Hōōden, Ōetsu Nimaiya stares into the distance as he is joined by Ichibē Hyōsube. As the two share some banter, Ichibē asks Nimaiya if Ikomikidomoe is indeed in the Valley of Screams. Nimaiya replies that Ichibē already has seen it all, and Ichibē muses on the strangeness that a monster among Menos has now reached a different evolutionary path. While Nimaiya tries to mention Tokinada and Aura's unsanctioned entrance into the palace, Ichibē interrupts him and says that their purpose is simply to maintain the status quo, for it does not matter who rules over the world as long as the world itself stays the same. [7] As Liltotto leaves, she promises to keep Giselle under control, not realizing that the aide kept one detail from her. Haschwalth also told his aide he considers Uryū Ishida his final test, and if he ever forfeits his role as "the balance", he will forfeit his power and life as well. [9]Jinta Hanakari and Ururu Tsumugiya are revealed to be artificial life-forms similar to Nemu Kurotsuchi — something previously indicated in the latter's case during her fight with Yylfordt Granz. Meanwhile, in the Seireitei, Tokinada has retreated to the Tsunayashiro mansion, laughing at his foresight to install miniature Tenkai Kecchu in the replica palace in case he needed an escape route. While grievously injured, Tokinada believes that if he goes in hiding for a while he will have the time to heal. However, just as he enters the throne room of the mansion, he senses the chilling presence of another person inside. Tokinada initially wonders if either Suì-Fēng or Byakuya has penetrated the defenses, and is amused at these turn of events. [10]

In the throne room, Hisagi is angry that Kazeshini still demands bloodshed and killing, causing him to verbally refuse to kill Hikone. As Hisagi tries to find a way out, he is confronted by Aura, who tells him there is no way for Hisagi to escape by himself. While Hisagi realizes he cannot win against Aura or Hikone, he still draws his Zanpakutō and demands to know where Urahara is. Though Aura assures him that Urahara is completely unharmed, Hisagi instead demands to be let out. [7] Slightly saddened, Hikone explains that they will accept dying for Tokinada as their fate if they must. When Hisagi angrily says that one should never throw their life away so trivially, Hikone apologizes for once again making Hisagi angry. Using Bakudō #63. Sajō Sabaku As Ichibē explains, before Soul Society existed there was only a single, primordial world where everything was in chaos; there was neither life nor deathh, and this stagnant chaos never progressed nor regressed, a state of being that this world remained in for a hundred million years. Eventually, Hollows emerged in this world and started feasting on the human inhabitants, disrupting the circulation of Souls and giving birth to the first Menos. Due to this disruption, the world began to destabilize again until, as if in response, a new being emerged from it, the Soul King, who destroyed the Menos, reducing it to sand. While Ichibē admits that other special beings, such as himself, emerged as well, none of them were as exceptional as the Soul King, being who truly approached omnipotence and omniscience. [8]

Discussions

Tokinada retorts that he does not believe that a person like Shunsui would be unaware of all this when the likes of Urahara and Aizen have been gathering that same knowledge for centuries, but Shunsui only replies that it none of it matters compared to how Tokinada's actions will throw all three worlds into chaos. Laughing, Tokinada continues to provoke everyone present by claiming that he is merely acting in accordance to his own ancestor's deeds and asserting that the concept of justice is meaningless to the point that only fools like Tōsen believed in it. [8]

Later, in a top-secret, sacred meeting place for the Noble Families, Yoruichi, Byakuya, and Tokinada meet around a conference table. After some tense banter, Yoruichi gets to the point and asks why Tokinada summoned them here, a meeting place that has not been used for two generations. Tokinada says that, due to the recent Quincy war, he feels the Royal Guard and especially the Soul King have become too isolated and complacent, and that such things need to change. When Byakuya criticizes his controversial opinion, Tokinada counters by taunting Byakuya about his actions during Rukia's execution. He goes further by insulting Hisana, but when Yoruichi get angry at him for it, Byakuya interjects. [12]Sensing that the curse which Ichimonji placed upon its name has weakened, Ikomikidomoe swears vengeance against the Royal Guard. Just as the Hollow is about to declare its original name, it is interrupted by an annoyed Zaraki, who effortlessly destroys it with one swing of his Shikai. Calling the Hollow a mere "whimp", Zaraki looks with disappointment at the now dulled and powerless sword that used to contain Ikomikidomoe. [10]

Meanwhile, Rudbornn has realized how Bambietta's The Explode functions, and has released Árbol with the intent to exhaust Bambietta by sending limitless waves of his Calaveras at the Quincy. When Loly doubts the effectiveness of his plan, Rudbornn reveals that he has managed to notably increase the power of Árbol since his defeat by Rukia Kuchiki, and is now able to greatly extend his roots through the very soil of Hueco Mundo, thereby causing more trees to grow from which Calaveras can spout. [9] Putting aside the revelation, Dordoni releases Giralda and uses its cyclones in combination with Harribel's water to ensnare Ikomikidomoe. In response, Ikomikidomoe fires a Cero from his eye to blow away the water, but Cirucci Sanderwicci releases Golondrina and launches its blades into Ikomikidomoe's eye. Taking advantage of Ikomikidomoe's blindness, Nelliel launches her Lanzador Verde at his eye, where the lance buries itself deep enough to prevent easy regeneration. Following on this, Charlotte Chuhlhourne also enters his Resurrección, Reina de Rosas, and uses his Rosa Blanca to deprive Ikomikidomoe from more Reishi. [7] Barrier Maiden: A rather ironic example: Yhwach's remains were used to create the new Soul King — aka the living being whose whole self is the lynchpin of everything that exists, having absorbed the power and essence of the previous one. Additionally, had Yhwach not done that, Ichibei and Shunsui would've had Ichigo become the new Soul King. Exploring the nearby rooms, Hisagi eventually finds a large chamber with a glass container connected to different devices in the middle and wonders what it is. A familiar voice replies that the container is their future throne. Hisagi turns around and discovers that the voice belongs to Hikone, who also recognizes Hisagi. While Hikone initially wonders why Hisagi is here, they eventually believe Hisagi to be Tokinada's guest. Upon hearing the name, Hisagi demands to know if Tokinada is present as well, which Hikone confirms. Hikone suggests taking Hisagi to meet Tokinada, but the child's immense hybrid Reiatsu intimidates Hisagi. [6] While Hisagi is confused, Tōsen merely teaches him that if he wants to embrace his pride as a Shinigami and protect the world, he must never cast away his fears, even when he eventually finds himself doubting everything he knows. Later, Hisagi is interviewing Ikkaku and Yumichika Ayasegawa about the events of the Soul King Palace invasion. The two mention Kenpachi Zaraki, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and Nemu Kurotsuchi's fight against Pernida Parnkgjas, and Hisagi is curious about the supposed "Left Arm of the Soul King". Hisagi wonders if Pernida has any true connection with Mimihagi, and is even more surprised once Yumichika remembers that Pernida said it has always been a Quincy. [10] Finally, Hisagi finds a window leading outside and, upon looking out of it, sees the Arrancar, Quincy, and Shinigami fighting against a single, hostile Shinigami far below him. Wasting no time, Hisagi immediately jumps out of the window to assist his allies, unaware that this battle will uncover the darkness of Soul Society to him. [7] Chapter 22 [ ] The 'original sin' turns out to be quite grave indeed; just after the Soul King came into existence, the five noble houses allowed one of their own (the Tsunayashiro house, who feared his power) to seal him into a crystal and dismember his limbs, rendering him completely powerless despite his importance in maintaining the balance between Soul Society, the human world, and Hueco Mundo.
