The “Glida-Grill” I assume is a futuristic New York hot dog stand that glides from place to place rather than being set up on a particular corner? The deaths, the stress and brutality of Eve’s previous case, political pressure to solve this case fast, all combine with Eve’s personally harrowing memories to give her terrible nightmares. The plot was thrilling and I loved how it all ended but left me wanting more, hence the binge-read of this series that will be happening. At that point, I already knew how it would unfold, with "throbbing," "wetness," "I want you but I can't" and so on.

an 12 novellas in this series and here I am, back Re reading my favorite ones cause it seems I can’t get enough of Eve/Roarke and all these awesome characters.I say particularly b/c pretty much everyone finds the notion upsetting, but as far as this kind of thing goes, it's not too bad. I like that he didn't let Eve's issues stand in the way of their relationship, but he wasn't out to change her or remake her into a more manageable woman for his life. or so books later we all feel we own a little bit of Eve and Roarke and their amazing world and we are always waiting for more! I do think that it was a bit too insta-lovey on Roarke's part and I was surprised when he said the he was in love with Eve. However, this doesn’t justify his actions or make him a particularly interesting character in his own right. D. Robb wrote this first book in what was then going to be just a trilogy I wonder if she had any idea of what she had created. I like how he's very supportive and caring for her, and he can get tough with her emotionally when it's necessary.Naked in Death was published years before and the similarities in behavior AND characterization are quite upsetting) and. So there's this sometimes interesting/sometimes uncomfortable combination of modern/future ideals and innovations coupled with surprisingly old-fashioned tropes. The futuristic suspense series stars Eve Dallas, a New York City police lieutenant with a dark past. Was this the same woman who wrote about and Irish girl who trained a horse for the Kentucky Derby - cannot even remember the storyline now cos it totally pissed me off. Another reason that put me off reading this series is because he is Irish and, being Irish, if it is not done right, it drives me nuts.
