Years after the events in DCeased, Cyborg's head sends out a distress signal, and Superboy (now Superman) heads up the team that goes on a rescue mission. The story brings forward some of your favorite DC superheroes and poses the question: What would they do during a zombie apocalypse? Because that is exactly what ensues. Set 5 years after the events of DCeased, the survivors have fled to another dimension and reestablished a new generation of the Justice League. They receive a Justice League distress call coming from Cyborg on Earth and make the tough decision to return and face unimaginable horrors to save their friend. Wait… Didn’t you say the DCeased sequel just came out? Where did all of these other series come from? And do you have to read them all? Fear not, friends, we’re here to fill you in on everything you need to know about the strange new zombified world of DCeased before Dead Planet becomes the talk of the summer.

Deathstroke explains that the Anti-Living can likely sense living creatures to explain how Wonder Woman found their hideout. Jason concurs with this theory as a horde of Anti-living have been accumulating outside the orphanages walls. Deathstroke proposes that everyone in the orphanage must be prepared to face off the Anti-Living. Gordon opposes this plan but eventually acquiesces to the training of the children, as long as the villains do not abuse their hospitality or commit any crimes. Rose points out the infected sealed in the cafeteria, and the villains agree that they must be eliminated. Gordon refuses at first, but ultimately allows them to kill the infected inside, including an infected Billy Batson. For three months, Batgirl and the remaining villains teach the kids various fighting skills. The villains slowly start to bond with the kids, Deadshot teaches a boy named Zaid how to shoot with a slingshot, Solomon Grundy plays with the children, and Cheetah grows attached to a girl named Matilda. Deathstroke and Jason argue over the harshness of his training before imploring Jason and Rose to take advantage of finding happiness together. One night, while patrolling the orphanage, Bane gets slashed by an infected Mirror Master, while Deadshot sacrifices himself to save Zaid from being taken by him. Gordon realizes they must avoid mirrors at all cost before finding an injured Cassandra. She informs him that Bane ran right through her to the outside, where the group spots the infected Bane opening a hole in the walls surrounding the orphanage, allowing the horde of infected to enter. [6] DCeased #1 Top in May (If You Don't Count Year Of The Villain), as DC Closes Gap on Marvel Marketshare". Bleeding Cool News And Rumors. 2019-06-07 . Retrieved 2019-10-30. From the original DCeased to DCeased: Dead Planet, DCeased: Unkillables to DCeased: Hope at World’s End, acclaimed writer Tom Taylor and artist Trevor Hairsine turned the DCU upside down, combining horror, heroism, and hope in the face of Armageddon.

DCeased was a surprise hit for DC Comics. As a result of this, a number of supplemental series were published to expand the comic’s world. These tell side stories and explore what other characters are up to in-between issues of the core series.

Armageddon has arrived…again. But what has to be frustrating to the remains of the human race is that this time they’re SO close to putting a stop to the anti-life virus in the seventh and final issue of Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine’s DCeased: Dead Planet.Dead Planet is the true sequel, set five years later. And, yes, I think a lot of people discovered the first DCeased in the collections, so waiting until more people had been immersed in the full horror of our universe made a lot of sense. That said, Trevor Hairsine, Ben Abernathy and I never really stepped out of this dying world. We’ve been planning and working the whole time. Trev has almost finished two issues and I’m writing issue three right now. Rain Beredo has even colored the first issue already, Saida Temofonte is already lettering. It’s great to keep the band together. The main story of DCeased is made up of three comic book miniseries, which act as a trilogy. These are: This miniseries explores what the villains were up to during the events of the original comic book series. I don’t hate Trevor Hairsine’s artwork but I’m definitely not a fan. All the characters look stretched out and too similar and his Penguin is the worst I’ve ever seen - he’s tall, thin, even hipster-looking. Trigon looks cool, even if it’s pretty much a basic devil design, as did undead Plastic Man.

Nobody does these apocalyptic Elseworlds stories better than Taylor. Let the guy loose without worrying about ongoing continuity or protecting the franchise’s future by keeping everything static (and everyone alive, reset to zero) and he tells a damn good tale. Somehow Cyborg is transmitting a message – he survived, and there might be a cure! Suspecting a trap, but with too much on the line, the new Justice League must make their way home to the dead planet to see what awaits them and who is left to be saved! I did think that by issue 5 there were a few too many plot threads going on, and I didn't expect a satisfying resolution, but Taylor manages to knot them all together at the last minute without it feeling too rushed, which is definitely an achievement. DCeased: War of the Undead Gods – DC’s Super Heroes Face An Undead Darkseid in the Final Chapter of the Fan-Favorite Series! Once a professional juggler and fire eater, Tom Taylor is a #1 New York Times Bestselling, multi-award-winning comic book writer, playwright and screenwriter.
