Description

this was meant to be another covid drawing—all these little faces, masked and socially distant in their little boxes while the danger-red of pandemic rages beyond their protective walls. instead it looks like a bunch of jolly smiling folk, so maybe it’s all over now?

ugh, i got way behind. i'm dropping a bunch now, with apologies for my failure to keep up this month. this book was NOT as much fun as i thought it would be. Be sure to add in some fun presentations, either student-led or by displaying the art in your classroom for everyone to enjoy.

Many people who use colouring books as part of a self-care routine have reported experiencing mental health benefits in their life. Colouring books are linked with childhood nostalgia, which can bring about a sense of joy and creativity. They can be a great way to destress and forget about the worries of day to day life. In addition, when you’re using a colouring book, you’re not looking at a screen, so it can be a great way to unplug for a while. What Is A Reverse Colouring Book? i decided to spruce this one up using my glitter markers, only to find that they don't really photograph as glittery, so i guess i'm the only one who is going to enjoy it. trust me, it's magnificent. If you’ve already tried reverse coloring in your classroom and you are looking for a way to boost engagement, here are some fun ideas to try that your students might enjoy: i had to bake a million things last night and i didn't have time to post, so here's a belated rainbow salad. it would probably taste horrible, ingredient-wise, but rainbow-lovers can't be choosers. this piece is called MORNING COMMUTE, NYFC 2021. in it, i am depicted wearing my mask properly (nose and mouth BOTH covered, tyvm) whilst everyone around me ignores the MTA's rules and basic city-living courtesy; puppy-piling in and unleashing covid-spores all over the place. it's maybe not quite this bad, but this is how it feels. don't worry—i just renewed my artistic license so i'm not gonna get fined over stretching the truth for dramatic effect.WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER PROJECT!! it was hard for me to find my joy in this project, so i let it kinda crumble, but i hate failing, so i am going to finish it and IT WILL BE MAGNIFICENT! Let them create!! Give students ample time to draw and design and build out their drawing. The intention is an open-ended project that is complete when students are happy with their results. You might have some students that want to create multiple drawings. If you printed a pre-made template, you’ll have fun design varieties to share with your students.

self-portrait of me being a big fat baby these past few days. i'm going to try to be better and get tonight's done...tonight. ugh, this life is a garbage fire...Provide a variety of different pens for drawing. White gel pens, glitter gel pens, and other paint pens that can be built on top of the watercolor create a fun look. Write a variety of animals or items on small pieces of paper folded up. Have students draw a few pieces of paper and try to incorporate a drawing of that item into their picture. This can be used as a drawing prompt, or as a fun exercise in innovation and problem-solving as they find shapes and spaces to add the new item into their design. more self-portraits. i had to fudge a few of these but it's far from the worst gaffe i've committed w/r/t this project... this one's the flipside of september 10: all of your nightmares, all at once. so many snouts here. i'm sorry i'm so bad at this and just end up drawing a bunch of ugly little things crammed together. i don't have an artist's creative eye; i prefer to be told what to draw, and even then it's a mixed bag.
