Description

The premise is a second-chance love between Jax and Em who, during their teenage years, were best friends turned lovers. A tragic situation caused Em to move into Foster care and this signified the beginning of a separation that would span 12 years.

I can’t explain to you how reading Em and Jase’s past affected me. It broke my heart and moved me to tears so many times. Their story was heartbreakingly beautiful and reminded me that when you have someone who truly loves you the way they loved each other, you really do have it all. In our first published paper (Stephens et al., 2009) we showed that people withstood the ice-water challenge for longer, rated it as less painful, and showed a greater increase in heart rate when repeating a swear word throughout the procedure, as opposed to repeating a neutral word. We theorised, based on the rise in heart rate with swearing, that participants were experiencing an emotional reaction to swearing, setting off the fight or flight response, in turn producing stress-induced analgesia.A lyric about beef – If you’re well and truly tired of all the beef and literally don’t respond to the hate anymore, use this lyric to remind the haters that you’re all about peace and positivity now. A lyric about money – Drake may have all the money in the world, but he won’t let this new lifestyle change who he really is. If you’re the humble (and rich) type, this line about fortune is all yours. A lyric about growth – With change and growth comes a new personality, but for Drake, he’s still the same humble guy he was before all the money and fame. When people come at you with the “you’ve changed”, this one-liner will be convenient. The first problem I had with this book was Trevor. To be honest, he annoyed the shit out of me and I feel like that one incident with him towards the middle/end of the book came out of nowhere. He felt so unreal, but maybe that's just me.

A lyric about living life –They say “do what makes you happy”, right? Well, for Drake, that means drinking and having fun with loved ones. Totally your vibes? Use this line! Despite a flurry of activity in recent years, research on the psychological effects of swearing is still in its infancy. Our research at Keele suggests that daily swearing frequency affects how much power swearing has – and that the power lessens with increasing amounts of everyday swearing. This raises interesting issues around how long the effects of swearing last. Our research and that of Bowers shows there is a physiological response to swearing, in terms of faster heart rate and increased skin conductivity. The phenomenon of swearing would be better understood if it were known for what timescale these physiological changes in response to swearing persist and how long it takes to recover them once they have become depleted. Research to answer this question is ongoing in my laboratory at Keele.A lyric about forgiveness – When his fellow rappers called off their beef (like Kanye West), Drake retaliated with this verse, telling them it’s too late. He won’t let bygones be bygones, and if you hold deep grudges, too, this lyric is for you. Shut up, you stupid, stupid girl. You’re just like your stupid mother.” He shook his head with such disappointment and disgust. “Get to bed.” That might be kind of hard, Emerson. My dad’s gone. He left.” It was the first time I had ever heard him speak my name. He enunciated it so clearly, like an adult would do.

A lyric about your possessions – Now, we all know how much respect Drake has for his mother, but we had no idea his other big love was his bed! If sleeping and family means this much to you, this funny line is all yours.A lyric about fakery –Drake is pretty much exposing other rappers for lying about their past experiences, here. But you can use this line in other situations, like dealing with fake friends. Y’all will get exposed one day. Swear on This Life' was consuming, though-provoking and such an emotional read from the very beginning until the end. I loved the title, the premise of this book and even the simple, yet meaningful cover. This story was equally heart-breaking and heart-warming so be prepared to be emotional exhausted at times, to smile and most of all, to feel. I love the concept of a story within another story and Mrs. Carlino did a fantastic job with both stories, both of them being so well written and so gripping.

A lyric about romance – These smooth lyrics really do encapsulate just how much Drake wants the girl. If you feel the same way about someone, this line is bound to swoon them. A lyric about food – If you’ve got dollars like Drake, treat the good ones with expensive stuff like lobster and Celine. The haters? Just give them fast food, because that’s what they deserve.Once I finished this book, I was very disappointed. This could've been so much better! There was so much hype surrounding this book and I remember reading the blurb and I was fascinated. I gave it 2.5 stars though because I loved the idea of it and the writing wasn't bad, but this book just missed out on so many major points!
