Hen decides to keep a close eye on Matthew. Due to her prior history, no one believes her. Even her husband is concerned about her belief that their next-door neighbor is a killer. Is she right? Is she wrong? Then Matthew realizes that Hen is watching him one night in a dark parking lot.... this is when you know things are going to get interesting!!!! What will Matthew think about his neighbor following him? We get to know as we learn what both Hen and Matthew are thinking!!!

him. I didn’t love him, but I liked him enough. And he was generous. He let me spend his money without complaining. Not that he really had anything to complain about; as far as I could tell, the money would never run out. Then one morning I woke up in Boston, sun coming through our bedroom window. I looked over at Ted, still deep in sleep, his face pillow-creased. I studied a little patch of dark stubble under his chin that he must have missed while shaving the previous day. He was snoring, lightly, but each ragged breath began with a little nasal hiccup, like his breath had caught on the edge of something. It was infuriating to listen to, and I realized that I was going to spend the rest of my life waking up and looking over at the same face, growing older, and older, and snoring more and more. That part was bad enough, but I also knew that, as soon as Ted woke up, he was going to look over at me, and his face was going to look so pleased, and he would say something like, “Hey there, beautiful.” That was the worst. I’d have to smile”George is an ordinary guy, maybe so ordinary that you might even think he is extraordinary. He is in his early forties. He keeps the accounting books for a Boston literary magazine. He made himself indispensable, so even when the inevitable downsizing started to leave empty desks and tragically orphaned coffee mugs in it’s wake, he survived.

George is less than a hero, not a real man in my opinion. Not evil, just wishy washy. Very watered-down version of 😊 Body Heat, as said in Zoeytron's review. The characters are pretty flat, but the femme fatale excels at lying, and the thug's motives are never made clear. Plus the book suddenly ends with no resolution to the main plots. Ugh.Once the story turns, more is revealed about Lily's past and a police investigation begins. One of the officers becomes obsessed with Lily and there is a whole other twist in the works there. Their neighbors Matthew and Mira Dolamore, also childless like Henrietta and Lloyd in a neighborhood full of breeders, invite them over for an evening of getting to know the new people next door. Whenever I see couples with matching letter names, like Matthew and Mira, I think of a conversation I had with one of the local gossips here in town, who smugly told me that married couples with matching letters, hers were Cs, were much more likely to stay together. She must have felt comfortable confiding this observation to me because my wife and I also have matching letters. The Cs were divorced within a year.

Ted Severson is a millionaire guy who recently learned his beautiful wife, Miranda is cheating with his new home building contractor. He's at the airport awaiting his flight from London to Boston and feeling angry, hurt, and drowning his sorrows in his martini when he meets Lily Kintner. Peter Swanson's writing style is entertaining, gripping, and so obsessive. I couldn't put down his book, even though I read it at nighttime and I was so sleepy. All characters are screwed up. In the whole reading time, I was thinking about who I hate the most. Hen made me really angry and her husband drove me crazy. I don't like it, at all. This is the reason why I gave it "just" 3,5 stars. But the good news is they ignited strong emotions inside me. The characters in this book are certainly all flawed, some mentally ill, but I felt them to still be believable. The plot is creepy and at times a little gruesome but if you watch any news or TV dramas you know that people are capable of murder and bizarre killing. In the beginning we aren’t quite sure what is going on with Matthew and what his motives could be, how can he form a relationship with anyone who thinks he is a killer?? Some seasoned Swanson readers are saying Before She Knew Him wasn’t as compelling as his other books. Well, that bodes well for me because I found this quite thrilling!Nine Lives was the first book by Peter Swanson that I had read and was a tad underwhelmed. Many of my GR friends recommended this novel and I am so thankful! I absolutely loved this story and devoured it in less than a day! alright lets start with how everything goes perfect for the serial killer duo. Drown the cousin, convince anther student to shoot the ex-friend, set up a murder/suicide looking crime seen. Everything goes off without a hitch... you know what that is? boring.
