To the best of my knowledge, real people don't all act this way; of course, if you were to inherit a 100 million-dollar house and the financial means to back it up, had five siblings that are always there for you. She is also the author of His Bright Light, the story of her son Nick Traina’s life and death; A Gift of Hope, a memoir of her work with the homeless; Expect a Miracle, a book of her favorite quotations for inspiration and comfort; Pure Joy, about the dogs she and her family have loved; and the children’s books Pretty Minnie in Paris and Pretty Minnie in Hollywood. However, what sets this book apart is its focus on family dynamics and the unexpected challenges they face. The twins, Caroline and Charlie, moved out long ago to start a fashion business that may now be faltering. The oldest, Lyle, is reaching a breaking point in his marriage and must decide whether a divorce would be best for him and his two children.

But with this year’s trip comes tragedy, and suddenly the Whittiers’ adult children find themselves reuniting in the family home without their parents for the first time ever. But on Connie and Preston’s annual skiing holiday in Europe, an avalanche hits their resort, resulting in tragedy. The love and loyalty between the Whittier siblings, as well as the emergence of romance, make this a heartwarming story. but each of them will learn that to move forward and face their challenges, they must be true to themselves and come together to support one another. As with many of Steel's novels, "The Whittiers" revolves around characters who are wealthy and live charming lives. Suddenly, their adult children find themselves reuniting in the family home without their parents for the first time ever.

I only give 5 stars to books I would consider reading again, and this latest offering from Danielle Steel fits that criteria as a feel-good, entertaining read. What begins as slow-burn quickly becomes an engrossing page-turner as Steel gently unfolds the story. I appreciated this touching and emotional look at family dynamics, grief, and sibling bonds written in Steel's special style. Set in present-day New York, The Whittiers is a heartwarming story about the importance of family, home and being true to yourself, from the world’s favourite author Danielle Steel. The unexpected death of their parents has drawn them even closer as they need the emotional and physical support of each other.

Story centers on the close knit ‘Whittier family’: parents Preston and Constance and their six adult children: Lyle is the oldest at 42, Gloria 39, twins Charlie and Caroline 33, Benjie 28 and Annabella is 21. Each face challenges, come together and follow a journey of self discovery while dealing with grief. As excellent and well known Danielle Steel is as an author, in my opinion her latest novel "The Whittiers" is not one of her best works. Danielle Steel has been hailed as one of the world’s most popular authors, with nearly a billion copies of her novels sold. She is also the author of His Bright Light, the story of her son Nick Traina’s life and death; A Gift of Hope, a memoir of her work with the homeless; and the children’s books Pretty Minnie in Paris and Pretty Minnie in Hollywood.

Her new book, The Whittiers, appealed to me as it is about family dynamics and dealing with the unexpected. Now the children must come together and be there for each other while dealing with their own personal demons. The Whittiers by Danielle Steel is a sweeping family drama that follows a tight-knit family after the death of their parents.I know that romances can be predictable, but for some reason, I found that this book was very predictable, almost as if I’d read it before. The Whittier siblings find themselves divided on how to handle major family issues, but their love and loyalty to one another shine through, making this a heartwarming story.

One of the reasons why I keep coming back to Danielle Steel's books is because I know how things will turn out. Because love conquers all for DS and it’s even better when her characters have oodles of money and don’t have to worry about such mundane things as student loans and health insurance. As a fan of Danielle Steel for many years, I am always amazed by her deep and emotional writing style.

I don't know what to say about this book except that it made me feel good and that all is NOT wrong with the world. The parents had asked that the mansion be sold for profit after their death, but what if the siblings want to keep and maintain their childhood home? The couple's passion remained after all their years of marriage, and they faithfully took their annual "wintermoon" ski trip holiday. Selling the house, along with all the memories that live in its walls, feels like yet another devastating loss.
