October in the Chair"- This is Gaiman's tribute to Bradbury. (I would love to see Bradbury's response.) This is an interesting, thought provoking read. It seems like a warm-up exercise for The Graveyard Book. * * * * Chivalry: THIS DOES NOT COUNT: republished from Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fiction and Illusions. Despite that, this was fun! An old lady buys the Holy Grail at a resale shop. A knight comes looking for it and finds more than he bargained for... Memorial Day honors US soldiers who died fighting for their country. Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday in May. you don't have to like them all. If there's one you don't enjoy, well, there will be another along soon." I was diagnosed 2 years ago at age 41. The main voice in this book is teenage "M" who shares her story with autism, being a teenager and wanting to be "normal".

Yes I have read several of these stories in previous anthologies. But that's ok. Like a favourite movie that I'm happy to watch all over again, I'm more than happy to re-visit books & stories that I love too. DNF bc this book was irritating me so much. Originally a 1 star book for me but gave it an extra star in the end bc I do believe the base message that we need Christ in all things, especially motherhood, but disagree with the authors means of conveying that message. Her conversational writing style is easy and enjoyable to read and encourages mamas without shaming them. She clearly articulates why our culture's view of motherhood fails and contrasts it with the benefits of a Biblical view. But she doesn't stop there, leaving you motivated but without knowing how to go about it. While interweaving scripturally-based direction with lively writing and humorous anecdotes, she provides practical advice for the everyday challenges of motherhood. I like the book M is for Autism because it is interesting to see how different but how the same a girl with autism is. I rate this book 5/5 because it is interesting, funny and exciting. The stories were slightly more mature than I had been expecting, but I personally did consider them appropriate for younger readers. I think I would have liked them a lot in primary scho0l, even if I didn't understand them. While this varies according to the individual of course, I think we sometimes underestimate what a child might enjoy. I'm not saying all children would enjoy this book, but I think many would. Another longer story follows. All the months of the year are seated around a table and it seems that each must tell a tale to the other months. A tale, that has not been told before, and one that must be entertaining. The current month of the year has the chair and the story to tell. A wonderful idea conjured from Gaiman’s imagination.

I think it would appeal to both autistic teens and neuro typical teens as autistic teens will benefit from realising they are not alone in their anxieties and the NT teens will get an insight into just how hard life is for ASD teens. They might then gain a better understanding of the quiet geeky girl/boy in their class and know that it's not that they don't want to join in, but how hard it is for them. Inclusion is what we are aiming for. M often represents male or masculine, especially in conjunction with F for female or feminine. [4] [5] The remaining stories are bound in magical realism. From a group of gourmands who fear they have eaten everything there is to be eaten on the planet, that is until they find out about the mystical Sunbird. To a story about a child who can talk to ghosts, and simply wants to provide the ghost of a woman who was drowned and burned as a witch, a headstone to mark where she is buried. This one just happens to be my favourite.A very brief book (which I read cover to cover in 35 minutes) which gives a glimpse into the life of an autistic girl and how she copes with day to day life and the things which us NT people take for granted. The Price: THIS DOES NOT COUNT: republished from Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fiction and Illusions. Still enjoyed the story - one brave cat defends his family from the Devil himself. This one was good, but not fleshed out. Should have been a full story. I loved how she wrote honestly that complaining and being negative is addictive, and robs yourself, your husband and your children of joy. I have been deeply, deeply burdened and saddened to see many Christian women authors (and many readers) not have the wisdom to grasp this concept. I loved how she came down hard at times, but also gracefully provoked thought by saying things such as “could it by finding other people to agree with us, we focus and intensify and justify our negative attitudes toward our problems?” 🔥 Everson, Michael; etal. (2002-03-20). "L2/02-141: Uralic Phonetic Alphabet characters for the UCS" (PDF). Archived (PDF) from the original on 2018-02-19 . Retrieved 2018-03-24. The Limpsfield girls certainly found their voice and it has all the urgency, immediacy and sheer vibrancy of teenage life... I hope that M's journey will help girls with autism making that same journey through their early teen years to find themselves and believe in themselves as well as help others understand and believe in them.
