Even just approaching them with the crevice tool, I could see the dust being pulled towards the tool by high-wattage suction.

For when pet dander and little dust mites make themselves at home on the sofa, bedding and in the carpets, it’s Henry Allergy to the rescue. Where this appliance does fall short is the stairs; unlike a handheld vacuum that can tackle the dirt on the stairs with ease, Henry's large base makes it very challenging to clean the stairs. This was after four weeks of (near) daily vacuuming, including the flour testing, which involved nearly half a bag of Homepride. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. There is a handy tool tidy on the back of the main unit - although it doesn’t house all of the tools sadly.

She was sent the Henry Allergy to test in her Devon home, to find out how well it performs across various floor types and how well it copes with busy family life, and her three super-fluffy, world-class-moulting dogs. the Henry Allergy is quite a beast of a vacuum – although, for the most part, you can just drag it around on its wheels. If you're moving between rooms with different floor types, the Combi Floor tool saves you time and hassle - simply adjust the brushes depending on whether you're cleaning carpets or floorboards. And whilst it was super easy to empty, just shut the lid and all the mess was contained, then it can be thrown in the rubbish bin.

The Henry range is beloved for good reason: the vacuum cleaners are powerful, simple to use and deliver a huge amount of power. This corded high-power vacuum seriously is good for all-manner tasks - from hard surface cleaning to piled carpets - as well as vacuuming up after serious DIY jobs.As a mother of three, Hannah loves finding clothes that make her feel fabulous and products that are great for large families. The main floorhead is OK but it still felt a little cheap compared to those I have tested in recent years.

Having lots of little people in my home means the vacuum cleaner is only ever off for an hour or so before I have to whip it out and clean the latest 'creation' my children have made on the floor. There appears to be four clear differences between the Henry Allergy and the Henry Eco: the power - the Allergy has a motor power of 620W in comparison with the Eco’s 420W; the filtration system - the Allergy has HEPA three-stage filtration whereas as Eco has two-stage filtration; the FreeFlo tool instead of the EcoBrush; and finally the Allergy is in a clinical powder blue and black colourway as opposed to the red and black of the Eco. The Henry brand is in a class of its own really but if we had to compare the Henry Allergy beyond the Numatic stable, its closest competitor would be the Miele Complete C3 Allergy. Adding an additional HEPA filter, the Numatic Henry Allergy HVA160 ensures that dirt is locked away, making it a great choice for homes with allergy sufferers. This Henry allergy has been Awarded the Britsh Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval for it's great performance in stopping allergens in their tracks which can be beneficial for anyone with allergies. Their allergens are found in body hair, dander and saliva which can then be trapped in carpets and upholstery. And whilst it is an amazing vacuum for removing dirt and dust, it is difficult to know just how effective it is. This is on top of Henry’s regular Tritex Filter (the squishy white ‘hat’ that you place on top of the vacuum bag before closing the lid) and the Hepaflow vacuum bags.

It's important to note that while these features can contribute to a cleaner indoor environment, no vacuum cleaner can eliminate all allergens. According to a leaflet by Allergy UK supplied with the vacuum, it “may, in proper use, reduce exposure to house dust mite allergen and cat allergen”. The Henry has an incredibly strong suction, so much so that the small sock hiding under the sofa fell victim.

As has been the case for years, the Henry Allergy HVA160 has a three-part wand: a curved section that’s home to a vent for adjusting power, plus two slide-on poles. Initially I was reluctant to put my cordless vacuum cleaner aside to put the Henry Allergy through its paces for an entire month. Firstly, there is something to be said about corded vacuums; they are reliable, and if you live in a busy household, you will know all too well the frustration of going to use the vacuum only to realise it has little to no charge left on it.
