Description

This mains extension cable is great for tents, awnings, caravans, motorhomes, boats… essentially anywhere you need power! A proper electric hookup lead will have the correct plug for the site outlet at one end and a box with three pin sockets protected by an RCD and circuit breakers at the other. When we did our earth shunt repair, we noticed our charger had a dip switch, that had a 'temperature sensor on/off' text. The ‘hook-up’ system, of connecting your ’van to mains electricity, is surprisingly simple and reliable.

This will keep it away from water should you get waterlogged (it can happen without warning sometimes! I enjoyed the little overhead light for the tent that I ran off it, and I liked being able to charge my phone and laptop up easily. Motors such as those in fan heaters need a starting surge of nearly twice their usual current, while fluorescent lights use four or five times their usual current rating. Useful for the kettle (quicker than the gas stove in the mornings for a cuppa and also for hot water for washing up), charging phones/iPads and also for a heater at the start/end of the season. The misconception of MCBs or fuses in a house is that they are there to protect you against electric shock whereas they are actually there to protect the cabling behind the walls of our properties from failing through over current (fire etc). The socket you plug into will most likely be a 2P+E 16A Ceeform, so assuming you're camping in a tent as opposed to plugging in a van or a caravan, you'll want an extension lead with a blue 16A plug on the end. Connect your tent to the campsite's electrical hook up point safely and conveniently with this 3-socket mains converter kit. Missed payments will show on your credit file potentially making credit harder to obtain and will result in late fees being added to the debt. From being intermittent it is now a permanent refusal to charge leisure battery from hook up although 240v is going through to the 240v plug on the side of the kitchen.

Electrical hook-up points are always rated in amperes, yet appliances’ electrical demands are normally expressed in watts. You can hook up a 10A kit to a 16A supply; however, you won't be able draw 16A due to the limitation on your 10A kit. We camped in Scotland in September and only had 6amp EHU and it blew the trip when we plugged our kettle in, was interesting swapping all the electric items so it didn't happen again! Think about where you might place it in the tent, raised off the floor is best, our second one had clips which means it can attach to a steel pole, or table. Great bit of kit, regrettably I gave away my last electric box, but this one has the bonus of USB ports, which is probably what the kids will be grateful for. Down side is: California's are only guaranteed for twelve months in France (mine is two years) and so I had to fork out 204euros on the spot.

We usually go away in our Cali at least once a month but because of illness it sat on the driveway for 2 months. So, in a bid to combine fitness with frugality, I've rounded up 20 ways you can exercise and get fit without spending a penny, both outdoors and at home. We tend to get electric hookup if it's available, but mainly just to charge our phones and put the fan/heater on.

Maybe I should add that electricity, outdoors, is always a risk no matter what you use but the article picks which products I’ve used and what I’d recommend (along with many others). My personal recommendation is for the Crusader EHU but I’ve selected 2 others you may want to consider in my article for the 3 best electric hook up cables for camping and caravanning. I reckon your emphatic recommendation of camping hook-up cables versus domestic cables is misleading, and should be reconsidered.

The 15m cable with 240v site mains plug make it easy to connect directly to your site’s electrical post. You can carefully check if there is power at the van end of the cable with either a multimeter or one of the little screwdrivers that light up. It was the actual blue connectors that are 16amp rated IP44 that I was referring to and didn't mention the breaker which I should have done. Neither of those linked to are safe to use from a hookup point to a caravan, trailer, or especially a tent. There are lots of campsites and caravan sites that have pitches with safety tested electric power points.Essentially, it consists of a hook-up post (or socket) by the on-site pitch, a socket in the side of your ’van, and a [tl:gallery index=1 size=215×129]lead to join them together. As I am a lighting/production electrician we refer to these as 16amp C-form connectors and they are widely used in the entertainment industry. The best way to avoid a problem is to plan ahead and familiarise yourself with the electrical needs of all the appliances you may use in your motorhome.
