this book is made up of collected advice from dolly's sunday times agony aunt column, and as expected, each response blends empathy, humour and emotionally intelligent wisdom in a way that is so quintessentially dolly: comforting, light and reminiscent of having a long coffee with an old friend. While I was reading this book I felt like I was almost having a conversation with an older sister that I never had. I wish this book was longer, and would have loved to read her thoughts on more specific and nuanced topics, since even topics that didn't directly relate to me in this book allowed for her to impart some universal wisdom; however I understand these were taken from her Sunday Times column and can only appeal to so niche an audience. I did find the dating and friendship sections a little repetitive at times (possibly because I was reading in big chunks) but the great thing about this book is you can go back and forth between sections.
