The club was the first place that Queen guitarist Brian May used his Red Special guitar live on stage with his group 1984. The railway station in East Molesey is Hampton Court railway station in Transport for London's Zone 6, operated by South Western Railway. This is the terminus of a stopping commuter service to London Waterloo that takes around thirty-five minutes. Principal stops are Surbiton, Wimbledon and Clapham Junction. During the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show extra trains run to and from London. The demolition of the last of the Moleseys’ houses of historic interest took place including the Old Manor House in West Molesey (1963), Grove House (1963), Radnor House in the Walton Road (1967), The Grove (1975) and East Molesey Court (1983). Over a hundred local servicemen, servicewomen and civilians were killed during the Second World War. Local workshops and factories made items for the services. Canadians troops were stationed on the sports ground in Hurst Lane and Americans on Hurst Park. Children from The Orchard School were evacuated to Exeter.The Post Office adopted ‘Molesey’ as the official spelling, but for years after, ‘Moulsey’ (a Tudor variant) continued in use alongside the modern spelling. Molesey Carnival revived in Jubilee Year. (in 2020 it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.). Around 1330, John de Matham married Isabella de Molesey. Her estate became known as Molesey Matham. The manor house of Molesey Matham was built around this time. (The house with its later, mainly 17 th-century, additions still survives at 6 Matham Road).

The club does not currently have any sponsors. Previously it has been sponsored by a Building Society and the International Sports Promotion Society. The club has also received sponsorship from Sport England and Elmbridge Borough Council and other organisations and public bodies in the past. The very successful Molesey Boat Club junior programme is run by our Head Junior Coach, Helen Taylor, supported by a team of fantastic coaches. To the east Transport for London's London Buses route 411 (previously the route 131 from West Molesey to Kingston), is operated by London United. The short route begins at Central Avenue in West Molesey and runs through East Molesey, past Hampton Court Station and on to Kingston town centre. [20] UK Census (2011).
