Description

The T7V Studio Monitor features two 3-way fine-tune switches that allow you to boost or cut high/low frequencies, enabling you to tailor the monitor to the room and position it's in. The fine tune controls, combined with high performance, wide frequency response, and a wide sweet spot ensure accurate sound, allowing you to produce professional results. The 7" polypropylene woofer and rear-firing bass reflex port deliver tight, controlled low end response. Powered by a 50w low end amplifier, it offers the perfect balance of smooth bass against the detailed top end of a ribbon tweeter. Exactly what you need for a balanced mix that translates well onto other systems.

Crucially, though, sound quality is top-notch, regardless of what calibre of device you connect them to. These are superb-sounding speakers that rival options at several times the asking price. But once that is something you get used to, it’s not a deal-breaker at all. All three speakers are not too harsh in the mids and highs and relatively compact and responsive in low mids and basses, even at extended listening.

As a side note I really enjoy not wearing headphones all the time. There is a big difference between headphones and monitors, but in my humble opinion I feel like you can't go wrong with headphones (despite the annoyance of wearing them and not being able to play sound to other people in the room). You might not hear the bass all that well through headphones and you will certainly not feel it but the sound is much more accurate through headphones (if you have good ones). I sort of feel like playing music through my speakers muddies up the sound a bit. The stereo difference is also big and I feel like the monitors brings more warmth and emotion than the very accurate ( and robotic, if you will,) sounding headphones might be doing. It feels like I can pinpoint right where the sound is coming from somewhere between the monitors while in mono and the hardpanned sounds are not as hardpanned! I've been using the DT 770 PRO and i still use them when I want the sound to be more "accurate". If you can afford monitors I would recommend! Featuring a 7” woofer that provides bass extension down to 39 Hz, the T7V's U-ART tweeterdiaphragm provides pristine and extended high-frequency response up to 25 kHz, which isvirtually unheard of in studio monitors at this price-point. Throughout the entire reviewing process, the T7Vs impressed with their detailed, incisive treble and generous, full-bodied bass. Midrange accuracy and transparency is fine by any standards but it really is exceptionally good at this price point. The T7Vs image well, presenting an incredibly wide, expansive sound-stage rather than pin-point focus of individual instrument placing across the stereo spectrum, while image depth is cavernous. Even for more modern EDM, Hip-Hop, or classical music with deeper bass, it delivers all you need without needing a subwoofer for near-field monitoring.

The T7V offers connections for XLR and RCA accepting balanced and unbalanced -10dBV inputs. This allows for 3.5mm and 1/4-inch connections, enabling you to connect the monitor up to a mixer, interface, and more. Cutting-edge design Weighing in at only 7.1kg, the Adam T7Vs are equally well suited on the move. If you frequent multiple studio locations or travel aboard, there's no reason why you can't use these as part of a mobile production setup without compromising clarity and quality. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production too. The U-ART tweeter is fitted to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM Audio’s flagship S Series studio monitors. The waveguide’s highly uniform dispersion of high frequencies provides an incredibly wide sweet spot that frees you from being glued to a rigid mix position while working. The only logistical issue worth mentioning, particularly if you’re considering the T5V for home use, is one that applies to the vast majority of studio monitors: the separate gain controls on the rear of each speaker aren’t intended for use like a volume control on a hi-fi amplifier. Instead, you set the T5V’s gain controls to a level that produces an acceptable maximum volume when your laptop, PC or whichever device is connected has its volume set to 100%, then control the volume solely via the connected device. Firing up the ADAMs and playing some familiar material, I was immediately reminded of what impressed me so deeply about the smaller T5Vs. The treble response is superb, sounding clean and fast with plenty of presence and air. Transients are reproduced with trip-hammer precision yet the presentation is unforced and natural sounding.

S Series – The Flagship Reference Monitoring Range

It allows you to compare the performances of different speakers before even laying your ears hands on them. With a pair of Kali Audio LP-6 studio monitors, you should be able to achieve a usable sound without expensive speaker calibration software and an advanced understanding of room acoustics and acoustic treatment. However, if you’re looking to sound-treat your studio for an optimized listening experience, this acoustic treatment guide for home studios is a great place to start. When I first got these monitors I felt quite bad because I literally couldn't hear the C3 frequency. This was because the sound bouncing on the wall canceled out the sound coming directly from the monitors. I had 4 mattresses lying around so I built a little half cubical around my desk and this made the sound not drop out at important frequencies. Of course the frequency dips in some places but nothing drops out completely. Fortunately for producers of music with warp-factor bass, ADAM offers a range of subwoofers for, in their own words, ’lower bass – not louder bass’. Their SUB7 is designed for smaller monitors while the range comprises several models more suited to larger control rooms or workstation environments. Conclusion

The T7V features a 7” woofer that provides bass extension down to 39 Hz, while the U-ART tweeter’s diaphragm provides pristine and extended high-frequency response up to 25 kHz – virtually unheard of in monitors in this price range. In short, these are very, very good sounding speakers. Bass is remarkably deep and powerful, reaching down smoothly to around 40Hz before rolling off fairly rapidly, and the overall sound quality is smooth and detailed. Treble is a touch bright – and it remains so even with the high frequency EQ control set to its -2dB position – but it’s not unpleasant to listen to. Overall, I did prefer the T5V with a little bit of software EQ to bring down the top-end by a couple more dB, but it’s not essential: the rest of the frequency range is so balanced, and the bass so extended, that it doesn’t end up sounding overly sharp. The Alpha 65’s front bass ports are a plus if you need to set up near a wall in a small studio, and the XLR and RCA ports will allow you to connect to your audio interface or consumer gear without any issues. At this point, I thought that if there was a tool that combined both the Spinorama with the room acoustics data, it'd be extremely useful.Keen to hear what the larger of the two entry-level T series monitors have to offer, I now have before me the T7V. Measuring 347mm x 210mm x 293mm (HWD), it’s only slightly bigger than the T5V and is also to be used as a nearfield monitor. The main difference between the two monitors is the woofer; the T7V uses a 178mm (7″) unit as opposed to the 127mm (5″) unit in the smaller model – the clue is in the names. Same tech, lower price Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty The source code under Pierre Aubert's work is licensed under GPL (General public license). He didn't perform any of the measurements himself, and instead he compiled all of them into one place, so that makes sense. This is why most A-class brands (like SVS, Bang & Olufsen, etc) often come up with room correction features, adjusted either manually or automatically. The EQ adapts itself to the placement (room, corner, center, etc) for a better (deeper and more accurate) sound. Which is great. The Adam Audio T7V is a small yet powerful, two-way, high-performance studio monitor that produces optimal, accurate audio and designed for vertical use in a nearfield application. The Class D amplifiers, provide 20W power to the tweeter and 50W to the woofer. The lightweight polypropylene construction of the woofer also aids in highly accurate sound quality.Playing David Bowie’s Ashes To Ashes, which I’d also tried on the smaller ADAMs, I noticed greater depth of sound-stage, the T7Vs having an almost holographic quality. This cavernous character is something of a double-edged sword, being quite inviting and seductive, yet also robbing the monitor of immediacy and some midrange punch. Switching between the T7Vs and our regular ATC monitoring systems (SCM100A mains and SCM25A mid-fields), showed the ADAMs to be basically tonally accurate, with only the faintest hint of bass bloom. Many users will prefer this presentation as it more faithfully mimics the sonic character of much domestic audio equipment; these users would likely find the smaller T5Vs a little lean. The Adam Audio T7V Studio Monitor is designed to produce accurate sound, allowing you to create clean, punchy, and professional mixdowns and productions. The T7V Studio Monitor provides you with fine tune controls that allow you to tailor the frequency response to perfectly suit the room or position it's in. The monitor features two 3-way switches that boost or cut the low and high frequencies by +/-5dB. They also provide a 'flat' setting. The switches allow the monitor to compensate for frequencies that may stand out too much when your monitor is positioned on shelves, a table top, a console bridge, or at varying distances between walls. This ensures that you are hearing accurate audio, not muffled by unwanted frequencies. Powerful and accurate sound The shape of the bass port is also meant to prevent the sound of “chuffing,” which is noisy turbulence created by air leaving the port at different speeds. When your speakers produce clean low-end, mids and highs feel less cluttered as a result.
