Now You See Me felt a bit of a pointless read in the end because there are no resolutions: as far as everyone is concerned, Danny could be dead, on a beach somewhere in the Pacific, or in some dungeon. See Me is the nineteenth novel by American novelist Nicholas Sparks. [1] It was published on October 13, 2015, by Grand Central Publishing. [2] Synopsis [ edit ]

I cried a tiny little bit - I knew where the story was going from pretty much the very first time the bad guy was mentioned - the story was a bit slow, too long, too uneventful in the beginning - BUT ... it was refreshingly non-sparksy-interesting.The Washington Post panned See Me, criticizing the book's romance as "ho hum" and the reviewer stated that she "found [herself] wondering what was so mysterious about a workmanlike romance novel." [3] The Deccan Herald was mixed, as they enjoyed the See Me's romance and thrills but felt that "Colin’s workouts and fighting encounters tend to make the book bulkier, and a tad boring." [4] I would have liked to read his POV, to read his justifications on why he left behind the little sister who worshiped him and the best friend who was clueless about her paternity. I liked the mystery aspects of the book and thought the killer's motive was believable. I also felt most of the main characters were compelling, though I think the author does better fleshing out female characters than male characters. The real Ripper 's history and mythology - sprinkled through the story - add interest. Moreover, Lacey's (and I guess the author's) theory about the original Ripper's identity is clever and plausible. Now You See Me" is classed as crime fiction. I do like crime but I love it when it has strong psychological themes as well as some good twists and turns.

Which is why this book was so shite. It basically just took Irish mythology and culture and shit all over it, because it relied on old tired stereotypes instead of making any sort of attempt at real research. The amount of things this book got wrong was embarrassing. Like the accents, holy shit. Never use phonetic accents in books. It’s insulting. Why is my accent never seen as correct enough to write down normally? Lots of English people don’t say their ‘r’s, but you don’t write an English accent down as “They aw unable to say theh lettehs cuhectly.” Americans kind of draw out their vowel sounds, but you don’t write that out. “I cain’t tawk rait, okaiy?” So why do Irish accents get written out phonetically? When a past case of revenge begins to cause danger for Maria’s family, Colin will risk it all to save the woman he loves. Crossing many genres, this is not a sappy love story; it is part psychological, crime, mystery, and thriller. Layers of suspense, surrounding a love story with characters from different walks of life. I have read my fair share of bad books, some worse than the others. In some ways, See Me probably wasnt the worst book I've read, but it isnt very high up, either. I found this highly intriguing throughout, not least because Hannah herself had great depth of character, her thought processes and actions bringing into sharp focus the emotional turmoil that loss can bring – especially loss where there is no closure, no clue as to what went wrong. Even though we have an insular view of events, told as it is solely by the one person, the rest of the “cast” come alive through her eyes – her father, Danny’s parents and Sister, her friends – and she manages to make you feel her frustration as it becomes clear that secrets are being kept. Lacey is assisted by DI Mark Joesbury who doesn't quite know what to make of Lacey's sixth sense and her tilted police procedures. He watches her like a hawk for many a reason.

See Me is a book set in Ireland and it involves all kinds of mystical creatures like Fae and Leprachauns... yes, you heard that right Leprachauns. Before reading this book I probably would have said Leprachauns... well I don't think that's my kind of book... but it is. Oh. My. God. It is. I absolutely adored this book. It was fanatstic and I couldn't put the book down from start to finish. A chance encounter on a rain-swept road will alter the course of both Colin and Maria's lives, challenging deeply held assumptions about each other and ultimately, themselves. As love unexpectedly takes hold between them, they dare to envision what a future together could possibly look like . . . until menacing reminders of events in Maria's past begin to surface. As if I wasn't excited enough for her upcoming release, The Dark, now I am bussin at the seams to get my grubby lil mitts on it.So Danny ran away because he couldn't confront his parents about his father's infidelity and lies. Also turned out that his BFF was his half-sister. I'm becoming a big fan of S.J. Bolton. It's not that there's anything terribly new here but I like the way this woman thinks and puts a story together. In the short note pushed through Emma's front door in the early hours of Saturday morning, twenty-two words had been directly lifted from the original letter. When he'd finished going through it, Joesbury drew a big circle round the misspelling of Emma Boston's name. Dear Miss Bosston. Who would have thought that Leprechauns could be sexy. The book tells the story of Robyn, a 17-year old girl who is part of a family that possess magical powers. Her family has been in the service of the Fae for generations. They don't like it, but it's not like they can give their two weeks notice to the Fae without serious repercussions. Like being cursed or taken into the Fae to be a plaything. The story might have made some attempt to justify why the accent was all wrong, by saying the accent sounded like it did hundreds of years ago, because it sounded different from the other Irish people they heard. I’m more inclined to say they heard a Dublin accent first, when they landed in Dublin airport, and then heard a more rural accent, if anything. And even culchies don’t speak like that. Anyway, the more important fact is that the Irish accent is not as old as you’d think. It’s kind of complicated, but basically most people were speaking Irish only a century or two ago. So there wasn’t really a Hiberno English accent, because it wasn’t people’s native tongue.

If you have noticed, I haven't really touched on my thoughts about the story-line...this is because it's the only area where I felt a bit cheated. I suppose when you're thirteen, these things feel monumental, and the only way you can deal with it is running away. But...with the entire book in Hannah's POV, it didn't give me much to go on. I couldn't bring myself to be understanding about the reasons behind Danny's runaway status. Because Lacey was first on scene - and happens to be an expert on Ripper lore - she's asked to assist with the investigation being run by Dana Tulloch, head of the Major Investigative Team. What a powerful name! Khalistah! Not to be confused with her friend, Melindalah. “I daresay not, Melindalah,” Khalistah answered.Or her other friend, Mirandalah. “Is this the one who fancies you to pieces, Princess?” I've read all Nicholas Sparks books so far and I loved them all - and I think I cried A LOT with every book. Unlike most of my reading-blogging-friends, Twilight did NOT start my reading-addiction - it was A Walk to Remember ♥ What can you say about Nicholas Sparks that has not been said? One of the top authors of this genre- mastering romantic suspense. Each of his books dive deep into human emotions and dynamics, with layers of tragedy and loss, with well-developed everyday characters, seeking second chances when unfortunate elements continue to pull them down. In the end, they come out stronger. I really do recommend this book if you love crime/thrillers. It shows the breaking of a friendship between teenagers as well as the breaking of an adult friendship and how all of that can play into plot.
