Description

This waterproofing stain can also be used to colour and protect hardwood and softwood garden furniture, summerhouses etc. This is a protective water-repellent coating. If your timber isn't treated with a preservative then depending on the type of wood and product, you may want to use our Wood Preserver ++ first. You can't apply this stain over existing stain; you'll have to strip any existing stain first. The wood really soaks this stain up, so coverage is not as extensive as you will get with other stains, particularly oil-based products. For longevity, you can't beat the natural silvery grey patina of oak or warm hues of cedar. Natural timber tones tend to work well anywhere. As you apply the stain, you'll want to wipe off an excess with a cloth to create a smooth finish. The blend of natural oils in this product results in a durable exterior that offers rich color and a superior defense against moisture.

Ready to use ~ Water-based ~ Solvent Free ~ Odour Free Ideal for furniture, doors, windows, floors, sheds, fences & more! For Interior & Exterior Use You'll also need to think about the type of wood. Softer, inexpensive woods are often best treated with solid or semi-solid stains, for purely practical reasons. And even when you start to narrow down the list of potential candidates, you'll want to make sure you try out your best options before dedicating yourself to one. Choose a Complementary Color The manufacturer recommends 14 days for the stain to fully cure, meaning the stain has seeped into the wood to dry and fully achieve its color. The stain is truly clear, so it's not a good choice if you're trying to cover up any imperfections in the wood planks. You also don’t have to wait a long time for the stain to dry—it can be walked on in 2-3 hours after the second coat, and it is fully cured within 48 hours of application. For best results, apply when temperature is between 50°F and 80°F and the air humidity is between 40% and 60%.

Transparent stains can maintain the original appearance of the wood grain to which it's applied. That makes it a good choice for a new, unstained surface that already looks great. If you're using brand new materials, then a clear or transparent stain might be the right choice. Tinted FINISH: Allow 24-48 hours for the stain to fully dry before applying a finish. You can finish your stained wood using a wax, oil, varnish or lacquer. If you are sensitive to strong-smelling chemicals or simply want a non-toxic option, this stain is the ideal choice. Made in the USA from renewable resources, this biodegradable product contains low VOC levels and a neutral smell, so it won’t irritate your senses as much as traditional stains. It also provides a waterproof barrier and is mold and mildew resistant. PREPARATION: Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt and dust and any previous finish. If sanding, the wood should be sanded with the grain, using 150 – 220 grit abrasive paper. Mold, mildew, and algae don't stand a chance with Cabot. While other wax-based clear stains simply coat the outside of a wood plank, this clear exterior wood stain is water based, so the wood absorbs it easily for better protection.

This depends on your home's exterior and the colours and tones in your garden. Avoid anything jarring, and look to either complement or contrast with your walls and fences. This two-in-one stain and sealant has plenty of UV protection and stands up to heavy foot traffic. It also offers waterproofing, forming a seal that resists mold, mildew, and water damage. Unlike paint, stain allows you to see the natural grain and texture of the wood. How much or little coverage the stain provides is referred to as its opacity. Clear stain has no color, making it a good choice if you want to reveal the wood in its full, natural beauty while also protecting it. Although it's an all-in-one stain and sealer, the manufacturer recommends two coats for optimal weatherproofing capability. It's simple to apply, and because it's made from an acrylic base rather than oil, all you need is soap and water to clean up. You can even apply it in lower temperatures—the temp just needs to stay about 35°F for 12 hours after application.

It's easy to apply and cleanup is even easier—all you need is soap and water. Although it says it's "rain ready" in just four hours, allow it to dry longer for optimal results. Although our stains are always thoroughly tested for colour consistency, the perceived colour of the stain once applied may vary depending on the qualities of the wood you are applying it to and the method of application. Viewing colours via screen will also alter the perceived colour of a colour swatch. For this reason we always recommend to try a 50ml sample bottle from our ready to use range prior to purchasing a larger quantity. Like most wood stains it can easily be applied by brush and also by roller, sprayer or paint pad. For best results apply at least two coats, the first will act as a primer and may soak into the timber unevenly depending on the porosity and any previous coatings present, the second coat evens everything up to a lush deep green. Using wood stain on external items and surfaces offers both homeowners and professionals several big advantages. For example, it prevents the wood from rotting if it hasn't already been sealed. It also protects wood from moisture and sun damage, preventing the wood from breaking in freezing temperatures and unsightly discolouration. The stain dries to the touch in two hours and is ready to resist rain in four hours. Behr recommends applying two coats for the best protection from the elements.
