It seems to him that is all worth it, but I’d imagine within the next 10-20 years of his life it is going to be one hell of a pain cave just living daily life. In terms of what he is advocating for and what he aims to inspire people to do, this book is another banger. But through self discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, David transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U. He’s a man who came from a humble and troubled childhood and, through the force of sheer will, forged himself into one of the hardest motherfuckers that’s ever lived.

Likes: Motivating, upbeat, energising, fascinating stories and attitude to life, loved how the audio was structured with the podcast discussions throughout. It will always be up to you to find the lesson in every shitty situation and use it to become stronger, wiser, and better.I've admired Goggins for quite some time now and wanted this book to give me wisdom for overcoming adversity. But because of the way I live and thanks to the mindset I work hard to cultivate, I had enough belief left to try one more time. He is indeed a savage but he puts himself through unnecessary hells to claim that title every day of his life. And look, I'm not here to armchair psychologize the guy, but it doesn't take a PhD in psych to see this man has some seriously fucked up coping mechanisms.

His commitment to the philosophy of 'achieving your greatness by giving life all you got' through mental toughness and self discipline has been an anchor of inspiration and motivation to millions around the world - myself included. The tone of someone prepared to plunge deep inside their own soul to find the energy they need to keep up the fight and prevail! The combination of the superhuman spectacle of his accomplishments and the immense gravity of his words serves as one of the most potent motivational drugs that exist on God’s green earth. There are 3 hours additional podcast time in between chapters between Goggins and the audio narrator: Adam Skolnick. We make decisions based on how we feel about certain people and we let that negativity guide our steps. I 100% agree with the opinion of pushing yourself to the utmost limits to achieve truly great things, but from what he states throughout his book is he seems to push too far and too hard and thus resulting in significant injuries/burnout. I’d learned long ago that no matter what type of event or challenge I engage in, the only competition that ever matters is me against me.

What makes him rare is, from the day we connected, he's always been a real guy who shoots from the hip and speaks from the heart. While I can relate with his relentless mindset, it is the constant recurrence of his self sabotage/self damage that is for the most part “avoidable” through overworking and lack of preparation for certain events.I don’t mean to suggest that you must run one hundred or two hundred miles to believe you have what it takes to get where you want to go.

Above all, I hope you know that beyond worldly recognition, accomplishment, and accolades, you are also very much worthy and capable of loving and being loved. CHM’ explores how each of us have untapped potential which we haven’t explored; while I found Never Finished more aggressive and negative as a whole. The retired Navy SEAL and champion triathlete shares how, through plenty of work both inside and out, he transformed from a poor, unhealthy, and abused child with a debilitating stutter into a highly respected motivational leader and a record-breaking athlete. PS: The world is in a scary place right now, plenty of people are losing hope and are down in the doldrums. There is great beauty when you are involved in something that is so hard most people want it to end. They swirl in the eddies of comfort or regret, perhaps claim their victimhood, and stop looking for their way out of the maze. Principles give us a foundation — solid ground we can trust and build on as we continue to redefine what's possible in our own lives.
