For lawns that need a full overhaul, be they overrun with moss, or weeds, or both, the A1 Lawn: Feed, Weed & Moss Killer is a no-nonsense product that will fight off moss whilst simultaneously putting weeds in their place. It’s one of the best high-strength moss killers for an all-round treatment on rebellious lawns. Plus, whilst combatting the not-so-pretty moss, it also finds time to green-up the grass and improve lawn health.

However, if you already have a spreader for granulated fertiliser, applying a granular moss killer will be straightforward . Plus, granulated moss killer is a good choice for those on a budget – it’s typically cheaper than liquid products. Moss can grow almost anywhere so long as the conditions are right. You’ll find it thrives in damp and shady areas, and it’s also capable of growing on a variety of surfaces. Another handy way to kill moss at the root is to apply a little hydrated lime to the moss affected areas of your outdoor surface. Either mix the substance with a bit of water to produce an easy to apply moss killer spray or sprinkle a little powder directly onto the area.Take a sample of your soil, add a 1/2 cup of water, mix, then add a 1/2 cup of baking soda. If the mixture bubbles or fizzes, your soil is acidic. Adding an alkaline substance, like lime, to your soil can help to neutralise its PH and prevent future growth. Use iron sulphate on grass. Sealers might be useful to use on your pavement because they can make moisture issues less prevalent. Sealing your pavement won’t prevent moss from being able to grow, but it will keep the moisture to a minimum. A lot of moss on the lawn will look patchy and spongy, it won’t give you the smooth, well-groomed lawn that you’re after.

This one below looks a bit more dirty than a biological problem and it’s been like it for ages. If you’ve inherited this kind of patio or left it that long you’re going to want to look at either Kärcher with a pressure washer or Pro-Kleen Patio and Driveway Cleaner which will probably do a fair bit more for you (assuming you don’t have a pressure washer): Patio dirt build up will benefit from Kärcher or Pro-Kleen Patio and Driveway Cleaner

Moss is a common problem in gardens for a variety of reasons. It can give the lawn an uneven colour and feel spongy to walk on. The product is so effective that it can last for months. Not just that, but it can treat up to 85 m2. One of the good things about the product is that it is also suitable to use indoors. In fact, you can even use the product as a pre-paint fungicidal wash. Just spray the diluted solution onto the moss, take the appropriate safety precautions and leave it there. The ground is safe for children and pets once the liquid has dried. Pros This is a concentrated solution which has been specifically designed for the easy treatment and removal of mould and algae from hard surfaces. It is also very effective in preventing the growth of algae and mould.

For the ultimate finish, complete the job with Nilfisk’s Stone Sealer to prevent further re-occurrence. We tried the products with a Nilfisk 140 Dynamic Pressure Washer/Patio Cleaner, a seriously good precision-control patio cleaner with a long hose and all the accessories you need – plus, it’s quiet. If you don’t want to use the herbicide or moss killer, you could use a power washer to remove the moss. This method is especially useful when removing a large concentration of algae and moss. If you don’t have this type of equipment, you can always find affordable options on the market. We’ve found this moss killer to be incredibly useful for larger landscaping jobs, as there’s no need for prior cleaning or scrubbing; just spray the product onto a dry surface and leave it to do its job. Like the simple spray & walk away moss killer, your kids and pets are free to play in the sprayed area once it has completely dried. However, this product can be harmful to your plants so be careful when spraying. A pressure washer isn’t a great way to prevent moss growth, but it is an excellent solution for killing moss. It is perfect for moss with a shallow root, so areas with a couple of inches on a hard surface—such as sidewalks, pavers, or concrete. You can use vinegar as you would a moss killer on patio pavers to remove it. Simply wait for a dry spell, dilute white vinegar half and half with water, then spray on to the moss. Leave for a few days to allow the moss to die off, then brush it off and compost. Be careful not to allow the vinegar on to the lawn or flowerbeds, as it will damage grass and plants.
