But now she has decided to walk away from it all – including divorcing her husband, Wallace – before her past secrets catch up with her. This book was definitely a slow burn for me but when it got going with the twists and turns it really was an attention grabber and kept you hooked right until the end. My Other Husband is fantastic in so many ways, it draws you into Cleo’s life, like your standing outside the window watching the drama unfold. The story then flips back to her student days where she first meets Heath, a fellow student who develops an obsession with Cleo that never ends.

For anyone that has read this authors books before, you know that you fall into the storyline hook line and sinker, and that you just keep reading. The complex characters we follow in her latest novel centre on Cleo Forsum Pryce who we first meet in the present day when she is charged with attempted murder. A unusual and thrilling tale of long kept secrets and dangerous obsession, combined with a cast of very strong characters.I took up various temping jobs and eventually got my big break writing, editing and subbing for various women's magazines and national papers. It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen to next and looked forward to the next time I could read it to find out.

I loved the alternating timelines that helped build a picture of the complex relationships between the characters over the years but out of all of them I think I loved Lola the most with her witty attitude and sass. I have to admit, this is a huge plus point for me as Brighton is my hometown, so I love reading novels set there. This was so close to being a five-star read for me but the only thing that made me drop half a star was because of how the story ended.Dorothy’s novels have been translated into over 30 languages, and a TV adaptation loosely based on The Ice Cream Girls was shown on ITV1 in 2013. Who is trying to frame Cleo and just why is she pressing self-destruct on a life she is seemingly happy with? I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nail, troubled many times as certain revelations took place. We spend a lot of time categorising people, while forgetting that very few of us sit in these categories neatly and stay there – we all fit into multiple categories.
