Description

Insane story that any child with imagination will enjoy reading either just to themselves of hearing and sharing read aloud. Robodog is more on the silly side of the Walliams book scale, but there are plenty of laughs for young readers. Supercharged and ready for action and adventure, can Robodog stop the most feared criminal duo in Bedlam and thwart their evil plans to destroy the city? I love this book, really funny and gripping storyline, I’m a big fan of David Walliams’ books, I have all of David’s other books, so I’m so glad to add this one to my collection! Robodog is the action-packed comic caper with cats, dogs and robots and set in a world of superheroes and supervillains.

Given how much enjoyment I got from the illustrations I can only imagine how much young readers are going to love them. The writing was fast-paced, easy to follow, and a little bit naughty, and the characters were weird and wacky. The Chief relies on the city Police Dog Training school to produce excellent crime-fighters to help her and her police force control the city’s baddies, but even this isn’t working any more.

I loved seeing elements of the story highlighted by the illustrations, especially the wacky characters. Biography: David Walliams is a literary phenomenon whose books have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into fifty-five languages. Ratty, the rat-mouse, also plays a monumental role in teaching Robodog, and thus also the readers, life skills and healthy perceptions, such as acceptance of those different from you and the value of friendship and loyalty.

Bedlam, once a home to ordinary people, is now a city infested with rats and is as dangerous as it is filthy.I thought Mighty Mind, Hammerhands, The Chocolatier, The Headmistress and The Politician were all great baddies. In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake. Velma is determined to wipe not only Robodog off the planet but every other dog in Bedlam, and suddenly every villain has escaped from Bedlam Prison. Best-known for his novels for children including Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy and Awful Auntie, Walliams has also written a number of picture books including The Slightly Annoying Elephant, working with two of Britain’s most talented illustrators, Quentin Blake and Tony Ross. David Walliams is a literary phenomenon whose books have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into fifty-five languages.
