As you’ll notice, there’s no HDMI port – so make sure your TV has an Optical port if you plan to connect it to the speakers. No HDMI also means no ARC – so you can’t have your TV’s remote turn the speakers on and off along with the TV. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items.

THREE FULL-DIGITAL POWER AMPLIFIER CHIPS DRIVE SPEAKERS INDEPENDENTLY: The S2000MKIII uses three professional digital power amplifier chips (the TAS5754 produced by TI) which drive two groups of the speakers independently: treble and midbass giving freedom from mutual interference and additional energy. My initial reaction to this was that it’s probably a bit of a cost cutting exercise to help save a few pounds / dollars on the more premium stuff. But, after a few minutes thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that I would happily pay more to have a premium unboxing experience.

The S2000MKIII are an impressive pair of speakers from Edifier, delivering a neutral approach that’s clear, detailed and spacious. I am a bass head and the base is very good on these and its enough for most bass heads unless you want to disturb your far neighbours. But when there is a large explosion in a movie, you miss that thunderous feeling of an external sub by say, 10 to 15%. not a big deal. The Edifier S2000MKIII is quite big when you consider that it is meant to be a bookshelf speaker. It is huge and also heavy. But it has a very nice finish made of wood panel. It also has a rear bass port. There are both analogue and digital connections you can use these speakers on a wide range of devices. You have that Bluetooth connection as well as 2 line input meaning you could link them to a number of products. In this case, I connected them to my TV & Playstation 4 combo but have also tested them using a CD Player. (I know how retro!)

I performed over 1000 measurement which resulted in error rate of less than 1%. Temperature was 70 degrees F. As for the mid-range, the tone is really impressive and only gets better the louder you adjust the volume. The treble is really good and doesn’t allow the large woofers to drown out the high-hat and snare sounds. I was also impressed with the versatility of the speakers allowing you to connect them to a CD player, alternative to a soundbar, connecting them to your gaming set up or using them as part of your music mixing setup. This is a real bonus in my eyes. With the controls at the rear, you can always make adjustments to tune the sound to your specifications. There are four pre-sets, if you are keen you will note the difference though they may seem to sound almost the same to some hearers. I was looking for speakers that would allow me to change between inputs (tv, bluetooth, record player) without having to mess with cables or input selectors. The fiber optic, coaxial digital interface uses the PCM9211 chip, also from Burr-Brown, which supports 24-bit and high-precision inputs of digital audio signals up to 216kHz.

If I had to withdraw a score point it would be the bass port chuffing at very high volumes. I have to add, this is different depending on the room where they play. In the living room (50 m2) it’s hardly noticeable but the set we run in a way smaller room it’s pretty present. Note, bass port chuffing is one of the downsizes that every bass reflex speaker has. The EQs are designed in the context of regular stereo use i.e. domestic environment, no warranty is provided for a near field use in a studio environment although the LW might be better suited for this purpose. I normally include the tech spec but I’m not sure how much value my audience is getting out of it, so I’m going to skip it on this occasion! If you want it, then drop a comment below and I’ll include the more techy stuff in the next review. Sound QualityUPGRADED BLUETOOTH HIGHER DEFINITION: Based on Qualcomm QCC3031 Bluetooth module, with built-in APTX HD decoder, it boasts the wireless transmission of lossless high-definition music signals, achieving excellent Bluetooth music quality as the wired digital transmission.

EXPERIENCE THE SOUND AS IF YOU ARE THERE: The flagship series has been upgraded with high-definition APTX HD Bluetooth wireless transmission, and recognised with Hi-Res certification. AMASE THE WORLD WITH THE POWER: The RMS continuous undistorted power of S2000MKIII is: treble 15W×2 + midbass 50W×2, able to easily present a large vocal scene, even for a large space of 50m2. If you don’t like ugly cables sprawled everywhere or simply don’t feel like getting ambitious and running cabling behind bookshelves or the wallboard, then the S3000 Pro speakers are a blessing for you as they are wireless. It uses the wireless audio streaming technology called the KleerNet. Each speaker simply needs access to its power plug and they will link up, communicate with the desired audio input device, and crank out the tunes. The Price: S2000MKIII:Overall, these sound really, really good. They’re loud enough to fill a large sized bedroom, home office or living room easily with no degradation at higher volumes. Build Quality Process and analyze the NFS data yourself, including the Preference Score, Correct Spinorama, Directivity 2D and 3D live etc. : During operation, you will notice a hiss sound coming out of the Audioengine A5+ while the Edifier S2000MKIII is totally silent. The tonal balance is also higher in the Edifier S2000MKIII, while the Audioengine A5+ seems to specialize in the midrange and treble offering clearer sound at those levels, but that has nothing to do with its quality but more about the volume levels. When it comes to the real quality of the sound, the Edifier S2000MKIII offers smoother and clearer treble output. DIGITAL DISPLAY SCREEN INTUITIVE AND CLEAR: The original sound source indicator of the S2000MKIII is changed into a digital display screen, which can display sound source, sound mode, volume, etc., not only convenient in use, but also fun in the human-machine interaction. S200MKIII is a remarkable pair of speakers that deliver a neutral approach that is precise, detailed, and clear. They do offer a degree of versatility and are a decent alternative to soundbar for TV. I feel they are tailored more towards home studios or desktops.
