Description

With each action you take, you spend an influence token, and the more tokens you spend the more it costs to complete all these actions.

These NPCs are fairly tough opponents that sit on the best spots in the galaxy, including good hexes you might discover while exploring, and five valuable spots revealed during setup. Travel between various sectors/hexes in this games requires warp portals between two hexes be aligned. It all just works in such an intuitive way, and it elevates the Gametrayz from a simple storage solution into an elegant, crucial component to facilitate gameplay round-to-round. A confrontation of the superpowers seems inevitable—only the outcome of the galactic conflict remains to be seen. This is a fairly low-scoring game–at the end of eight rounds, my multiple plays have averaged out to around twenty-five points, usually. After that the play passing to the next player and around and round this goes until all players have passed. Even if you only get it off the shelf a couple of times a year, that’ll be well worth the epic science fiction event that takes place everytime you do. I really hope that this review has persuaded someone that this game is worth their time because it is big, beautiful and spectacular. Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy is a sprawling space game of conquest and expansion, praised for its tense, rewarding inter-player conflict, clever board constraints and implementation of diplomacy mechanics.

I've looked all day and although I can find the other small extras elsewhere, Remnants is only available on Lautapelit. For the uninitiated, a 4X game is one whose primary mechanics consist of eXploring, eXpanding, eXploiting and Exterminating). The lid of each player’s storage tray doubles as the tracker for the tech, build and income for each player. You can also remove a token from one of your systems if you think you might have overreached yourself.Having now played each faction at least once, I’ve found that my tableau of technologies, ship upgrades, and territories tends to look fairly similar no matter what civilization I chose at the start. Eclipse remains a favorite of mine, although I do not get to play as much as I would like and I have not yet upgraded to the Second Dawn edition. Overall I am really impressed and it would be a perfect rulebook if not for the subpar setup section. This all means that in the games I’ve played, combat tends to be a late game rush as various players finally decide that now is the time to throw around those fleets that they’ve been building up since turn one.
