In No Matter What Debi Gliori tackles this most important of issues with a sense of wit and style that belies the importance of her message, allowing her solemn hero Small to ask the Really Big Questions about the nature of unconditional love and answering them with an intelligence and spirit illuminated by frantic and often hilarious illustrations which tickle the funny bone while providing honest answers. There are many recognizable similarities in Small's world and that of a young child's-dinner in a high chair, bath time, bedtime stories, and favorite toys. In this lyrical picture book we see a clever and resourceful mother prove to her child that a parent's love is limitless - no matter what! But as it rapidly become one of our regular favourites, it was often our go-to book when we wanted to calm him after a busy day.

And after a slight mis-hap involving their sleigh and a chimney, Santa Baby realises just how much he needs his dad.In this beautiful and lyrical picture book, we see a clever and resourceful mother prove to her child that a parents love is limitless - no matter what! warm, reassuring picture book about unconditional love and setting big worries to rest, beautifully written and illustrated by Debbie Gliori. This is a stunning book, the magic is all in the words as Big reassures Small that she will always love him no matter what. I also really like the idea that the two characters are merely a small character and a larger one, the relationship could be any number of things, small and their: mother, father, older sibling, cousin, grandparent, friend or foster parent/ carer. Go, go, pirate boat, Across the salty sea, Raise the anchor, hoist the sail, It's a pirate's life for me. Large (replied) "Look at the stars, how they shine and glow, some of the stars died a long time ago. I thought it was going to be a sweet bedtime story about some foxes, but what it actually turned out to be was a universal love letter from parent to child that I was too choked up to finish the first few times I tried to read it aloud.Any images belonging to the author should be regarded in the same way as the previously mentioned written content and should not be used without permission. He also questions how long love lasts for and although his Mum explains that she can't quite answer that she uses a lovely metaphor to explain that love is ever lasting.

The ending was a bit difficult to swallow initially (the life of a star was initially lost on my children), but after reading it hundreds of times (not exaggerating!

So beautiful for a childrens book, a lovely way to show your child about love and acceptance from a young age. Those same lines about death in the American version replaced by the question " And if you are far away, love disappears or remains?
