Whatever both this and Killian's Angel's Share opening use to emulate the liquor note - I hate it with a burning passion. I also am extremely conservative with my sprays as I happen to recognize (and not particularly enjoy) people who feel the need to bath in a fragrance and smell up a room. This elicits imagery of its namesake—a club, circa 1920s-1950s, men in their dapper suits and cigars and dark liquor, women with their rouge lips and dresses that showcase their silhouettes but leave enough to the imagination. Famed for his cutting-edge collections, Belgian designer, Martin Margiela, launched his eponymous house in the late ‘80s, garnering fans with his avant-garde shapes and irreverent twist on tradition (his cloven-toed boots are iconic).

The scent strongly reminds me of fake plants, vinyl seating, booze spilled on the floor making it sticky. Reapplying is no issue, but I wish it would last longer (make it an EDP at least and base it a little more). Smells like not only a jazz club but more particularly an acoustic guitar case thats been brought into and played in jazz clubs for years, and the smell that wafts out when its freshly opened.

The blend opens with a subtle hint of tobacco, embracing you like the warmth of a well-worn leather chair. I got a compliment while wearing Jazz Club today which was weird to me because I don't think I like this smell, personally. The tradition has been immortalised through the generations, handing down the address of this Brooklyn jazz club. In my opinion the tobacco seems to be the weakest of the base notes and it's unfortunate because i think if it was just a bit stronger it'd be a very good scent. On entering the basement bar, the spicy and woody smell entices you the animating and intimate ambiance.

Top notes are Pink Pepper, Neroli and Lemon; middle notes are Rum, Java vetiver oil and Clary Sage; base notes are Tobacco Leaf, Vanilla Bean and Styrax. I was completely baffled and considered, if perhaps my nose was having a bad day, but scrolling through the comments here, I realized, that other people had the same association. I've had this sample for months and I've avoided applying it out of trepidation over the tobacco note which can sometimes give me a runny nose, which it did for about five minutes. This smells a bit designerish to me(if you know what I mean), simple, bit soapy, not really deep, kinda generic. If you don’t mind (or even prefer) a bit of smoke in your fragrance and you want that warm spicy feel, you’ll probably love this.The Jazz Club fragrance by Maison Margiela captures the elegant bouquet of premium cigars in a mix of tobacco leaf absolute and pink pepper. If you’re not the right person for it then it’ll give off the impression that you spent hours at a jazz club and had just stepped out, might be strange to smell on someone else during the day time. In the drydown, tonka bean, pink pepper, and tobacco (the unburned leaf -- I don't really get smoke). Recently I bought a full bottle of this and to my surprise it didn't appeal me that much which it used to. Wonderfully smoky and sweet (but not candy sweet) I wear this out when I don’t want to smell like flowers or fruit.

This came as a surprise because the only Maison fragrance I ever wanted to have is By the Fireplace (love at first sniff, own a 10ml decant). This definitely is a good introduction to the world of sensual boozy fragrances, and I'm appreciative of its purpose of getting people into this "genre" of scent due to it's mainstreamness.

Over time, the fragrance has grown on me, with a lasting silage of around 2 hours that settles into a strong, intimate presence. despite being a palpable combination of notes, this fragrance sits close to the skin and ultimately doesn't last too long.

I’ve been wearing it recently and I realized it comes off very feminine on my skin, just with that undertone of tobacco that’s there.A lot of people seem to find this fragrance as one of the best they’ve tried but when i bought a sample, i was completely disappointed. im one of the many people who got this for their boyfriend, as 'jazz club' smells absolutely delicious but doesn't suit me personally. It's as if the essence of a night filled with smooth tunes, good company, and a hint of mystery has been perfectly captured. I randomly tested Jazz Club and it was so unbelievable and amazing, and it was exactly what I was looking for even though I did know that this was it.
