He’s not that worried about Davy being on one of the most addictive and dangerous drugs in existence. NOTE: I was not provided a copy of this book by the author or the publisher in an exchange for a review. I wish this story line had been given a bit more depth, so that it wasn't as black and white as Davy becoming a villain due to his vices, but I can totally understand that there was just too much going on to tackle that too. There is also a slight hate/love relationship that brews and it is the best developing relationship I have read in a long time.

The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex…Approximately. I wanted it from Jenn Bennett's name and my undying love for her other YA book, The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. And also, guys, in case you needed a disappointment cherry on top of this infuriating sundae, Bailey is so totally not like other girls.Bailey and her dad also make many film references throughout the book, most of which I didn’t understand. Let's be honest here: Not many girls would miss the obvious signs that Porter Roth was, in fact, online Alex. As a teacher of 6th graders, I think it's fair to say that for every truly naive kid out there, there's at least a few who know more than the adults think they do. Porter, too, is a well-established character, complete with fleshed-out backstory and a collection of charismatic supporting characters unique to him.

There's an element of warmth and fuzziness incorporated into this story; internet pen-pals, old movies, Cary Grant, archenemies at the beginning turning into blossoming romance. Indeed there was something really grating about her voice, something I can't pinpoint exactly but that made me wish I'd DNF early. In fact, the whole online, chat room friends meet-up hook falls by the wayside pretty quickly as the novel becomes less about Bailey finding Alex and more about Bailey and Porter’s slow-growing romance, with Alex becoming more of an afterthought, and something to be brought out as a complication when it suits. Now we just have to wait for the dumbest protagonist in world history to figure out what has been increasingly apparent since, like, page 5.Only Bailey is a lot more cautious than that so she doesn’t actually tell Alex she’s moving to his hometown, despite his invitation to meet him at the annual film festival at the end of the summer. Speaking as someone who in high school have literally run away from who she was currently in 'relationship' with. I was fully engrossed in this story and i think most of that is to do with how well the characters were written, i often find the main characters in YA contemporary books to be pretty one dimensional but i really liked Bailey and Porter.

If we travel back in time to the year 2015, young Marta was doing nothing but reading YA romance novels. But life is whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever-it-is she's starting to feel for Porter. star while you are saying that we should put it in trash because you don't want to give even one star.

Bailey is smart about her online interactions with Alex, giving him a list of topics to avoid for the sake of her safety. If I had the option, I would have rather gone into this book knowing nothing, finishing it with an untainted love for a new novel.
