I really like these sets for so many reasons. Not only is it great to help children to discover the joy of gardening whilst combining it with creativity but it’s also different from the usual toys crowding their bedrooms. It would make a ideal gift. The only thing that makes me feel uncomfortable is all the plastic. As it is meant to be about growing and nurturing plants it would be nice to see more environmentally friendly trays and accessories made of wood or bamboo. Although this can be used over and over with new seeds being planted once the current ones start to die off. Kids can create a magical unicorn garden inside their home! My Fairy Garden Unicorn Garden is a Grow & Play playset that includes everything your little one needs to make an enchanting garden that is sure to attract unicorns and fairies to their home! With a wishing well, a mouse, a mushroom and flowers galore, their fairy will have a garden to play and explore! Kids can follow the activity guide to learn how to create a beautiful living fairy garden with the grass seeds provided. The seeds appear to be grass and possibly watercress so hopefully we’ll see some growth within a couple of weeks, which can be trimmed with scissors once it is fully grown. The tray doesn’t have drainage holes so it’s preferable not to flood it with water and advised to keep it on a sunny windowsill. In the summer though, ours will probably stay outside as the weather is so mild. The Unicorn Garden & Magical Wishing Well set contained everything shown on the box picture including a wishing well, props various animals, bunting, small stones, a fairy and seeds. The only thing I had to supply was the compost. So my daughter and I started to ‘build’ the fairy garden using the really simply step-by-step instruction booklet supplied. It featured each step with an illustration for guidance. It wasn’t hard to set up but it definitely wasn’t something you could leave a child to do on their own. I needed to help with many aspects of the set-up including compost supply and fitting the batteries in the wishing well, but as a team it was a lovely little activity for us. I love our garden and I want my kids to love it too. I’m always happy to find little projects and activities for my kids that involve the garden and watching things grow. So I was over the moon to be asked to review a Fairy Garden product and not least because this one involved my 6 year old daughters ‘most favourite animal of all time’ the unicorn!
