People love to send me films and I have been sent this one quite a few times over the last few weeks. Unique, quirky, gentle, warm hearted and thoughtful, Dear Greenpeace is a pleasure to read, and cleverly avoids the trap of being preachy and precious about its subject. (Ages 3 to 6) -- Susan Harrison It all sounds a bit nerdy, but it couldn’t be more important. It meant that nuclear, (alongside other clean energy sources like wind and solar) could get the critical financial investment needed to help save our climate.

A warm and funny picture book that, like Baby Brains, is perfectly formed’ Books for Keeps Simon’s Comments https://images.google.bs/url?sa=t&url=https://www.liveinternet.ru/users/gusionsaber/post499368810// The perfect introduction to learning about our planet and the importance of caring for it. Baby London Such a fantastic book! I have used this in class to discuss environmental issues surrounding Greenpeace, who they are and the work they do. Great discussion points about animals, migration and their habitats, and also what humans are unfortunately doing to their habitats through plastic pollution in the oceans and deforestation. GREAT book.Unlike some of the people that run Greenpeace, it’s my generation that will have to live with the consequences of climate change. In my experience young people tend to be open minded to all solutions, including nuclear. It’s an emergency after all! A breath of fresh air… Witty and sparkling line-and-wash pictures… Full of humour and vitality.’ The Guardian Simon’s Comments The second part of the writing will involve a number of persuasive devices such as repetition to echo the forest and rhetorical questions to make the audience think. Worried that the whale living in her pond is unhappy, Emily writes to Greenpeace, who, though offering the best of advice, insist that it is impossible for a whale to live in a pond. Undeterred, Emily continues to seek the best course of action for her beloved whale, finally setting him free.

I have to first disclose that I am, for the most part, set against Greenpeace. They have done a lot that I find to be harmful, especially as they rarely focus on how to actually help already marginalised communities (such as not discriminating between the Japanese whale hunting and the indingenous whale hunting, which have different functions) and have had members actively harm places of cultural significance (Nazca Lines, for instance). A wonderful and thought provoking story which would be ideal for many topics and themes: animals and their habitats, the environment, looking after the world around us - to name but a few. This story encourages empathy and care of animals and the world around us and in could provoke some powerful thoughts and writing from children. A very cute short story about a little girl called Emily who finds a whale in her pond so writes to Greenpeace to ask them how she should care for it. When Jess takes a walk in the Wild Woods with Grandad, she makes friends with a squirrel. She’d like to keep him – but Grandad’s not so sure… Although Emily receives unquestionably polite but incredulous answers like this one each time she writes, she does not stop pestering Greenpeace for advice. For there is a huge, blue whale in her pond in Plymouth, Devonshire, England, and who would be more capable of helping her make him feel comfortable than the famous experts on all things wildlife and environmental?Love the letter format, different writing styles and different fonts used to illustrate Emily's and Greenpeace's communication, a great book to promote letter writing to children in the classroom.

Leon has just moved in to town with his mum. His dad is away in the army. Leon needs a friend, but how can he find one? It s about Emily who writes to Greenpeace regarding a whale she saw in her pond. She asks for more information on whales. Pete the badger likes to keep everything neat and tidy, but his over-zealous cleaning begins to have a damaging impact on the forest. This entertaining picture book, with its rich illustrations, carries an important environmental message. If you could write a letter to anybody, who would you write to? Could you write and send your letter to them?
