At the end of each Turning Point, you score 1VP if one of more friendly operatives are wholly within the enemy’s drop zone. We’re not going to get into this now, we’ll be here until the next Kill Team release, and I’ll probably have to do it all over again for that. Unlike previous editions of Kill Team, second edition has players take turns activating their units, swapping back and forth. Unlike games of 40K, in the new edition of Kill Team matches have three phases: Initiative, Strategic and Firefight.

Although it’s not included in this set, it’s important we have a proper chat about this Kill Team Compendium. Most operatives”, says GW, “are GA1, but some (a standard Guardsman trooper, a Gaunt, or a Poxwalker) have higher values and make it possible to use more than one operative in a turn”. SPARE AMMO [1EP]Once per battle, the first time an ammo roll is failed for this operative, that ammo roll is considered to have been passed instead. The designs are absolutely bonkers; they’re a thoughtfully crafted blend of highly detailed and hilarious. However, these are both very thin and often at odd angles, which can make it even more difficult to judge where they’re supposed to go. Killzone Octarius is a scenery expansion set for Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team, comprising a range of Ork terrain pieces to populate Killzones.

Kill Team: Octarius Has Sunday Preview – Adjust Your Scopes, Kill Team: Octarius Has

Whilst I wasn’t an enormous fan of the expansion set (funnily enough, I still haven’t painted the 3,000+ pieces of ridiculous cuboid terrain that came in the box), I did quite like the skirmish-style gameplay and found it fast-paced and exciting.

MISSION RULES Concealed Positions: In this mission, the Attacker must set up all their operatives first, using concealed deployment.

Kill Team: Octarius (Book)

Whilst this’ll make drawing up your list for your Kill Team super quick, it does seriously hack away your ability to really personalise your Kill Team – something that I found was always so synonymous and appealing about the game. You can draw an imaginary, unobstructed straight line (known as a Visibility line) 1 mm wide from the head of the active operative’s miniature to any part of the miniature of the intended target (not its base). Rules content, by contrast, filleda mere54 pages: 28pages of core rules; 11 pages of missions; and 15 pages covering Specialists. While it might appear ramshackle, it is in fact a defendable position that allows operatives to use cover and safely advance on their enemy. This book had just about everything you needed to play Kill Team in it – bar the info for two or three factions, which I have been reliably informed were released later.Compendium book as a stopgap until then, fielding dull units with no abilities and hoping things get better when your version of Octarius is released – if it ever is. These dynamic rules allow players to relive tense and gritty spec ops missions full of heroic moments and nail-biting decisions – like the demolition job seen in the stunning cinematic trailer . All of the missions use a specified arrangement of terrain using the Killzone Octarius terrain set, each tailored to enhance the mission at hand. More dangerous weapons, like the Power Sword above, also get Special Rules like Lethal (which increases chances of a crit), to further bump up their wielder’sodds of winning the battle of dice.
