Besides the lack of photos, I do enjoy this cookbook, and I have already made several recipes including the Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich, Roast Chicken, Caprese Salad, and Caesar Salad. It got me thinking than a true and tested Sims-themed cookbook, but for IRL cooks, with all the recipes from the whole Sims franchise, would be a fun idea.

The reason this didn't get a higher rating was really that it was just neither impressive as a straightforward cookbook or as a totally geeky delightful game tie-in. I LOVE The Sims games, especially all the detail they have put into the food (the descriptions, the cooking aspect, the ingredients and ingredient gathering, the look of the food) over the years. If you’re any amount of a Simmer who enjoys maxing out their Sim’s cooking skill, this should be on your wishlist.

A collection of recipes from the Sims Franchise, including some of the most iconic dishes of all time, such as Ambrosia, Grandma's Comfort Soup and, my personal favourite, Key Lime Pie. I found myself googling recipes for 'garlic noodles' the other night, since I make my sims have that ever so often and it sounds delicious. As someone who has been playing the Sims since its inception (Sims 1 - and yes, I just highlighted my age with a big yellow highlighter), this was more of a nostalgic read for me than anything. To wrap this up, if you want this cookbook because you loved Sims 2 and 3, you may want to pass on it. This cookbook was written with Sims 4 players in mind and that's fine but I'm not sure I would have bought it had I known that. I otherwise would not consider myself much of a gamer, but there’s something about the Sims franchise that holds a special place in my heart.
