I really enjoyed this it’s a Fae fantasy enemies-to-lovers slow-burn romance set in an alternate world where humans are now aware of the existence of faerie. Ava is a low-level Fae brought up in the human world. She has no idea of her origins or parents and was abandoned before later being adopted by her human mother. Alone since her mother's death, she has one constant her fiancé when he betrays her Ava is heartbroken swearing off love and it’s this decision that paves her way forward. In The Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry, editors Richard Ellmann and Robert O'Clair compared and contrasted Frost's unique style to the work of the poet Edwin Arlington Robinson since they both frequently used New England settings for their poems. However, they state that Frost's poetry was "less [consciously] literary" and that this was possibly due to the influence of English and Irish writers like Thomas Hardy and W.B. Yeats. They note that Frost's poems "show a successful striving for utter colloquialism" and always try to remain down to earth, while at the same time using traditional forms despite the trend of American poetry towards free verse which Frost famously said was "'like playing tennis without a net.'" I will not say any more on the subject, except that half a day's research on the internet would have given the author enough material to make her weaver characters capable of weaving, including using correct and accurate terminology for the actions and tools. They could still spin, if they really wanted to spin, too. Not to mention all the rich metaphors, symbols and feelings (tactile and emotional) that the author could have evoked using the world of fibers and cloth making.

Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874–January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in the United States. Known for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech, [2] Frost frequently wrote about settings from rural life in New England in the early 20th century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes. So, Ava is a character I feel is completely relatable. At least to me she was. She felt like an outsider around others, in both the human and fae realm. To me, she doesn't really know where she belongs and honestly? COMPLETELY RELATABLE! I liked how throughout the book, we were trying to figure out Ava's story alongside her. I wouldn't say I saw a lot of the plot points coming, because I was equally screaming "did that really just happen?" at my phone, as well as "I KNEW IT!" Overall, as a character, I truly adored Ava and I cannot wait to see how her development flows after that ending! Perfect for fans of The Selection series who are looking for something spicier, deadlier, and with fae and magic! 🔥❤️ Have you ever felt that it’s just too dangerous to love people?”/ He was quiet. Something glistened in his eyes./” My parents, and now you.” It is an entertaining and engaging work that draws readers in as it sets up the events of the third work of the series.

I don't like / won't read zombie books, but I decided to make an exception with this book because: robots! The idea of a world with both robots and zombies (rather, 'eaters', which are different from zombies because they can talk and still somewhat control themselves and their "dietary cravings" and even appear normal) intrigued me. Overall this was an excellent first book and I’m looking forward to the conclusion. This is my first experience with this author though I do have other titles of hers on my TBR which I’ll now definitely be moving up my list. This wasn’t a graphic one and this is definitely a slow burner but despite that Ava and Torin had so much raw chemistry and I’m looking forward to the second book in this duet. Also despite this being labelled enemies to lovers I didn’t think they were really all that more wary adversaries that had hit off on the wrong foot making snap judgements. Harvard's 1965 alumni directory notes that that Frost received an honorary degree there. Although he never graduated from college, Frost received over 40 honorary degrees, including from Princeton, Oxford and Cambridge universities, and became the only person to have received two honorary degrees from Dartmouth College. During his lifetime, the Robert Frost Middle School in Fairfax, Virginia, the Robert L. Frost School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and the main library of Amherst College were named after him.Torin is the most powerful Fae and Seelie king the last thing he wants is a wife but current circumstances force his hand. Tradition dictates a contest a brutal bloody and dangerous undertaking for the potential queens, it’s also going to be televised fodder for the human masses, needing a bride but with his own secrets Torin strikes a bargain one that Ava for great reward is willing to risk all for and If she can win the contest it will be a short marriage to fulfil a purpose but in name only. In the summer of 1962, Frost accompanied Interior Secretary Stewart Udall on a visit to the Soviet Union in hopes of meeting Nikita Khrushchev to lobby for peaceful relations between the two Cold War powers. [25] [26] [27] [28] This is how this story begins, and for me, this first paragraph was perfect in grabing my attention and interest. Frost, a teenage girl, is losing all of her loved ones. In an attempt to save her beloved pet, the last thing she can physically cling to, she leaves the relative safety of her apartment to risk the streets of a city torn apart by the Days of Bedlam.

Original and… cold! This book is cold! Snow, ice, frost - it's a very chilly, dreary setting that, coming from Canada, I can easily relate to. I know how it feels to be snowed in after a storm. To be constantly cold during a storm (even though my house is sweltering). So although the characters could have been fleshed out, and the plot intensified, the setting is very vividly depicted, and it's clearly an incredibly unique premise that has a lot of potential. I think the book may have simply been too short. I received this from the Kate Avery Ellison to read and review. The story is set in the winter in a small community that lives in the Frost as the area is called. Lia is the main character, she's had to take over raising her little sister and caring for her crippled brother after her parents are murdered. Most of the community lives in a safe little town while a few live outside the town those are farmers. It's a unique world, where during the daylight the people in the town are free to move about but during the night these creatures called "Watcher" come out and kill anyone who they find they are drawn to people with electronics. That's why it's a simple farmingish community, each family has a quota of goods they are required to provide for the better of the town. When a stranger shows up hurt who happens to be the community's enemy Lia saves his life and changed her life forever. I'm happy Shalini was part of the book. Even though Torion and Ava have good banter, Shalini is the comic relief you don't know you need until she's spewing her (at times rather impure) thoughts. The author masterfully captures everything and she instantly pulls in the readers who will get attached to the lead and her family. Adult years Frost's 85th birthday in 1959 The Robert Frost Farm in Derry, New Hampshire, where he wrote many of his poems, including "Tree at My Window" and " Mending Wall" "I had a lover's quarrel with the world", an excerpt from his poem "The Lesson for Today", is the epitaph engraved on Frost's tomb. All in all, a delight to read and experience - yes, it's impossible not to "live" the story through Lia's eyes, the narration is just that close and personal. Now that the truth is out in the open, I can't wait to see how much more the Weavers will evolve as characters, and what other dangers their actions will bring forth as consequences!
