Meanwhile, Elizabeth comes to a conclusion that Rhys Williams is the murderer of her father based on the research she does herself. But someone wants to kill her to get the whole fortune himself. The novel follows a series of incidents and accidents that provide a breath-taking suspense. Till the end the murderer is not unveiled and that provides a series of spine-chilling adventurous read.

Recognizing that this novel is set in the late 1960’s and not current times, I can see why Joan handled some things the way that she did. This was a time before the internet and cell phones. The story would not have worked for me if it was a contemporary setting so the author selected an appropriate timeline. Joan was someone that I wanted to be safe and happy and to have a healthy baby. But she also has some flaws that emerge during the course of the books that makes her more believable. Almost none of the other characters were likeable.The time is the late 1960s, and the setting is the small town of Lilydale, Minnesota. At first, I thought of Lily Dale in upstate New York, which allegedly is the most haunted town in the U.S. Upon doing some research, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Lilydale, MN, does exist; I just hope it is not as sinister a place as what is depicted in BLOODLINE. a b Ausiello, Michael (August 20, 2015).
