Description

As part of its Freesat+ branding, the Foxsat-HDR includes numerous useful recording features. It will automatically adjust the start and end times of recordings if the beginning of a programme is delayed or moved to a different time slot. You can record a whole season with a single button press, and the Humax will record a repeat of a particular episode if its original broadcast clashes with previously set recordings. Finally, the Foxsat-HDR will recognise when a programme has been split, (as some films are by the news) and record both halves. These features rely on broadcasters providing updated scheduling information, but we had no problems when recording shows on popular channels from the BBC and ITV. The unit constantly records up to two hours of TV into a buffer memory, which allows you to pause and rewind live TV, but sadly you can’t retrospectively record programmes from the buffer. You can also start watching a programme before it has finished recording, or ‘chase play’ in marketing speak. So as a PVR you get to do all the cool things with live TV – pause and rewind within limits, so if you need to answer the phone you can simply pause. If you need to go out to the shops, you might just choose to start recording instead. You also get to change various settings allowing you plenty of control over your recording options. With a reasonably large 320GB of memory, Humax cite 80 hours of HD content or 200 hours of SD content, but the likelihood is that you’ll have a bit of both, with a tendency to hang on to the HD content for longer, because, hey, it’s high definition. Choose the Transponder or transponders to be searched, by default all transponders will be searched.

Bit confused by the filename of "raydon_s_Media_and_File_Server_Bundle_for_the_Foxsat_HDR_release_4.1.3" that the 4.13 link goes to in post #1. Is the CF bundled within that as the filename makes no reference to CF? The EPG is also superb, using an instantly accessible grid layout and excellent use of the remote keys to skip forward in time or switch to a List view. When you set something to record, it asks if you want to record the whole series or the single event, and if a programme is being simulcast in HD it asks which version you want to record. Select whichever of these you wish, then Edit the name and enter the LNB frequency, DiSEqC mode etc. And I don't think most of the "other Satellite" functions are activated until you've done a minimal (Single TP should do it!) Manual Tune on "freesat 28.2E" If the Foxsat is setup properly you should be able to stream the Foxsat recordings using a HDR-FOX-T2, try it the improvement in quality is quite marked (well it is using my HDR-1000S).I had Twonky4 and Mediatomb was installed but because of these problems I wanted to upgrade to Twonky5 but system wouldn't allow it due to Twonky4 had already t been installed, so I uninstalled Twonky4 and upgraded to Twonky5 After leaving Sky a couple of years ago, I bought a Humax FoxSat HDR (RM-F01) and used a Sky Wireless Connector to access On Demand content... With the custom firmware, non-Freesat channels can be added to the Freesat EPG. Unfortunately no EPG programme information is available for non-Freesat channels. The display means, among other advantages, that the Humax becomes a useful radio tuner (for satellite radio, obviously), because you don't need to have the TV turned on to operate it.

Also I forgot to mention above would you know why channel names are not shown properly. For non-freesat channels I understand it shows 5000+ number but even for Freesat channels it appears to show channel number not name apart from ITV when I go into library. A Freesat Tune will only list TV and radio channels currently listed on the Freesat EPG (Electronic Programme Guide). For all other Free-To-Air (FTA) channels, a Manual Tune is required.

The first Freesat+ HD PVR, and the only serious satellite rival to Sky+

The system works almost flawlessly and can deliver top-quality broadcast images and sound. Directly comparing simultaneous broadcasts on Freesat, Freeview and Sky (using my third LNB) show that this system is on a par or sometimes better than its rivals. I would agree with the previous poster - it's not really something that I would advise trying to talk somebody through remotely, especially one's parents!

C4HD is not added to the EPG in freesat mode. You use the CF 'channel editor' plugin to make C4HD visible in freesat mode. Then you need to set recordings on C4 SD; then edit the reservation to point to the C4HD version and then make it a daily/weekly/ timed recording. No series linking or accurate time recording.ITV, however, is a problem. Its broadcast bit-rate is often much lower than the BBC's and it frankly looks dire in standard-definition on Freesat. We haven't seen an ITV HD broadcast yet in the few hours since installing the Foxsat-HDR but previous broadcasts viewed on the non-PVR version were superb. So I am inclined to get it working again but wanted some advice about options. I am currently assuming although can't be sure that the PSU is faulty but cannot see obvious signs of damage. Select Yes and press the OK button to restore all setting to factory default. To return to the previous menu, select No and press the OK.

That is the proper name for the custom firmware. Pretty sure Raydon always used a rar archive. You can get a free rar opener from the Microsoft app store. Please can you tell me what I need to do for Foxsat to give me the relevant DLNA link for streaming?

I've still got the original software (as per screenshot), was hoping someone could advise which software to use, how to upload it and what advantages it would bring? Without being too technical!
