The other two cameras are similar to last year. There’s a primary 12-megapixel f/1.8 camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a field of view equivalent to a 26mm lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor. And, finally, there’s a 2x telephoto camera with a resolution of 12-megapixels, an aperture of f/2, OIS and a field of view equivalent to a 52mm lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor. It's an upgrade that'll make you think twice about needing an iPhone case, especially if you have the iPhone 11 Pro in Midnight Green. That's this year's hot new color that shows off the fact that you do indeed have the new iPhone for 2019. Apple's plastic clear case may be the best solution for that. Other colors include Space Grey, Silver, and Gold, and all look different from prior iPhones thanks to the matte finish.

is more storage than a lot of laptops are coming with lately, and the storage Apple puts into its phones is far more expensive than the same capacity in an external drive. If you've had a 256GB iPhone in the past and you never filled that up, then you can probably safely safe your money and not jump up to 512GB. Even with some options surfaced in the app, you can't change from 4K video to 1080p or 30fps to 60fps without exiting the camera app and diving several menus deep into the system-wide Settings menu. Why? All of the comparisons show a very clear advantage for the iPhone 11 Pro. The colours are more naturalistic, the details are sharper and there’s less visual noise in finely textured areas. Look at the grey rug on the shot of the chair and the wall-mounted plant pot behind it; the iPhone 11 Pro’s shot is cleaner and more detailed than the Pixel’s capture, which is spoiled somewhat by blotchiness. I found the iPhone was able to nail focus more reliably than the Pixel, too. In the photograph of the barbecue, my first attempt with the Pixel was blurry and unusable. The iPhone 11 Pro battery consistently lasted us more than a day during our testing, often stretching close to a day and a half, even with heavy use. When enabled, the iOS 13 low-power mode really extends the life of this battery.

The best 2019 iPhone you can wrap one hand around

Extended dynamic range is incredibly impressive. In this mode, the iPhone 11 Pro’s camera captures 4K video at 120fps internally with each alternating frame shot at different exposure levels and then combined to produce a pseudo-HDR effect. It’s subtler than you might expect but it does balance out the bright and dark areas of footage in a surprisingly effective manner. The iPhone 11 Pro was announced on September 12, 2019 and the official release date was later that month on September 20. It sells for Pro-level pricing, although in most regions, you're going to pay the same amount as you did for the iPhone XS and iPhone X. Versions: A2215 (International); A2160 (USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands); A2217 (China, Hong Kong) Network

With flight mode engaged and the display set to 170cd/m2 to ensure a consistent brightness across all phones we test, the iPhone 11 Pro lasted 17hrs 15mins before requiring a recharge. That’s four and a half hours longer than the iPhone Xs, which represents a significant 35% over last year’s phone. That’s not surprising given the battery has grown in capacity but it’s still welcome and brings the iPhone 11 Pro almost level with the Samsung Galaxy S10. It’s still no match for the Snapdragon 855-equipped phones we’ve seen recently, though, such as the Xiaomi Mi 9. Rear Camera - 4K Video Recording at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, 1080p HD Video Recording at 30 fps or 60 fps, 720p HD Video Recording at 30 fps, Extended Dynamic Range for Video upto 60 fps, Slow-motion Video Support for 1080p at 120 fps or 240 fps | True Depth Camera - 4K Video Recording at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, 1080p HD Video Recording at 30 fps or 60 fps, Slow-motion Video Support for 1080p at 120 fps, Extended Dynamic Range for Video at 30 fps fps

The Apple iPhone 11 Pro is fast, chock-full of new features and has an unbelievably good set of cameras

The 512GB option is only available for the iPhone 11 Pro, and it comes at a serious hike in price from the base model. Most people won't need this much storage, and that's especially true if you plan to upgrade to the iPhone 12 in a year. This is typical of the whole iOS 13 upgrade, in fact. There’s nothing particularly dramatic in its list of upgrades and new features but there are quite a lot of changes that have the potential to positively impact the way you use your phone on a daily basis. iOS 15 has also added FaceTime improvements, SharePlay, better notifications, a redesigned Safari, and quite a lot more.
