Connecting it to your phone and booting up Turtle Beach’s dedicated phone app is the only way to tweak the headset’s settings. It stops short of full EQ level controls, but it still has lots of features. You can set up your own custom balance of bass and treble, adjust the mic level, and tweak the volume of system audio prompts. Fixed an issue where game volume was low on PlayStation 5. TURTLE BEACH AUDIO HUB - Desktop Software The headset’s newly-added metal-reinforced headband and glasses-friendly design mean even players with big heads and glasses frames aren’t going to be made to feel uncomfortable during marathon sessions. We have very minor complaints about the quality of the hinges and joints that allow the cups to move and the headband to adjust, but through some quite intense testing (over a period of months!) the headset has held up and is as good as new now, some 100+ days into our review period. Turtle Beach® exclusive Superhuman Hearing® sound setting lets you hear subtle, game-changing sounds so you can live longer and win more. Hear vital game details like enemy footsteps and weapon reloads to elevate your game above the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 – SoftwareThe Stealth 700 Gen 2 uses two pieces of software, both called Turtle Beach Audio Hub. The Audio Hub app on your gaming PC only communicates with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 as a means of upgrading its firmware. You’ll need it, but you’ll rarely use it.

Like with any headset, after an extended gaming session I was conscious of the band against the top of my head, but it was never sore, and slight adjustments relieved any minor discomfort. As a mark of how comfy it was, I fell asleep while listening to podcasts late at night with the headset on, and only woke up several hours later. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 review Can Turtle Beach’s alternative to PlayStation’s Pulse headset cut the 3D Audio mustard? You can also change the behavior of the “mode” button and volume wheel on the left earcup. You can set the button to, for example, toggle the “Superhuman Hearing” mode that boosts footstep and gun sounds in competitive shooters, and set the wheel to adjust your mic level, rather than overall volume. The Turtle Beach Audio Hub mobile app for iOS and Android has received an update to 3.14.8 (201) for iOS and 3.14.8 (232) for Android. The second big selling point of the Max is battery life. The base Gen 2 lasted roughly 20 hours per charge, but the Max will last more than 40 hours, according to Turtle Beach, which is longer than all but one of the headsets on our best wireless headset list. It stood up to that claim in my testing: after two weeks using it on and off, adding up to more than 25 hours of sound time, I was hovering at about 50% battery. I took it on a weekend away knowing, gloriously, that I could leave the charger behind, saving space in my bag. Fix for incorrect battery level reporting on some phones. TURTLE BEACH AUDIO HUB - Desktop Software A new firmware update is ready for your Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox and PlayStation ®! Connect your headset to the Turtle Beach Audio Hub program on your PC or Mac to update your device’s firmware to version (v.2.0.2).

Like the Stealth 600 Gen 2, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 supports virtual 7.1 surround sound through Windows Sonic, and offers a functional, but not particularly rousing virtual surround sound experience. In games like Apex Legends, you can hear directionality of gunfire, footsteps and other sounds, but sounds coming from your side or behind you sometimes sound disproportionately loud. On the Stealth 700 Gen 2 specifically, I noticed that Windows Sonic created compression issues, which led to little pip noises coming out of nowhere every so often. Simply put, most games sound better with it off. Combined, all of this means the Turtle Beach headset struggles to really transport you into the games you’re playing, both in terms of general atmosphere and full-on action. The Pulse headset is even the better of the two at the bottom end: the Turtle Beach goes deeper, but its bass is also soft and ill-defined, and the Pulse’s significantly punchier and cleaner delivery is altogether more satisfying. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is the successor to one of the company’s best-selling headsets, with added support for next-gen consoles. Both also have built-in Bluetooth for use with various other sources such as phones and tablets.

What is the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 like?

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 – GamingThe Stealth 700 Gen 2 delivers strong overall audio quality. Its 50mm “nanoclear” speakers come through loud and clear and mostly sharp in all kinds of games, competitive and story-driven, including Marvel’s Avengers, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and others. Across the board, both music and game sounds came through across the spectrum – low, mid, and high tones. In Star Wars: Squadrons, you can hear and feel the low hum of the ships, and hear the little nuances of blasters and other Star Wars sounds that we’ve all come to know so well over the years. New firmware updates are now available for your Stealth 600 Gen 2 for Xbox and Stealth 600 Gen 2 for PlayStation ®! Connect your headset to the Turtle Beach Audio Hub program on your PC to update your device’s firmware to: Bluetooth greatly expands the headset’s utility. It’s much easier to pair the headset with a PC, and you can pair it with other devices, like your phone. Better yet, you can pair it with a Bluetooth device and an Xbox simultaneously. This allows you to adjust audio levels on the fly while playing, but also lets you listen to a podcast or take a call on your phone while listening to your Xbox audio at the same time. (As someone who likes to put on a podcast while playing some games, this was a huge revelation for me).

Did you test it with Windows Sonic enabled? It really sounds bad in this case, but it's more of the software problem than the headset. Can you please retest it in Stereo Mode and Atmos and update your review? Like the 700 Gen 2, You get virtual 7.1 surround sound through Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos. I tested it a lot with my go-to battle royale, Fortnite, and found it worked fine without blowing me away. The direction of footsteps was always clear, but it all felt a little flat: I found it difficult to make out subtle differences in how far away gunshots were. The rest of the headset is exactly what you got with the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2, including a clear, loud, flip-down microphone that hides neatly inside the left earcup when you don’t need it. On the bottom of that same earcup are a series of buttons and wheels that let you adjust the volume and toggle different sound modes, depending on how you set up the headset in the accompanying Audio Hub phone app. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max – Software
