Bowie's extra-terrestrial Rockstar creation Ziggy Stardust staged one of the most spectacular and innovative live shows to date, expanding the parameters of the live rock show and singlehandedly launching a worldwide glam explosion.

I'm a big fan of Bowie and i'm really into Photography so this was a good read, and i really enjoyed all the amazing picture's. Most of his early costumes were designed by Freddie Burretti and later Kansai Yamamoto, his inspiration ranged from kabuki theatre, Japanese culture, his mentor Lindsay Lemp, to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. To celebrate this 50th Anniversary the Moonage Daydream book (endorsed by David Bowie and Mick Rocks estate) has been published. Ziggy really sang, Screwed-up eyes and screwed-down hairdo, Like some cat from Japan’ – Ziggy Stardust Photograph © Mick Rock – www.Formal studio sessions include those for the Pin Ups sleeve and the four pioneering music videos that Rock directed and filmed for Bowie.

Oversized purple cloth in illustrated dust jacket, boldly signed by photographer Mick Rock on the front free endpage, NOT signed by Bowie. Featuring more than 600 photographs from Mick Rock's vast archive and a foreword by Bowie himself, 'Moonage Daydream' explores in detail one of rock 'n' roll's greatest creations: Ziggy Stardust. which] features a 15,000-word text by Bowie, who's hardly ever gone on record, certainly not at such length and with so much detail, about Ziggy and the glam era. I would literally draw out on paper with a crayon or felt tip pen the shape of a guitar solo: the one in ‘Moonage Daydream’, for instance, started out as a flat line that became a fat megaphone-type shape and ended as sprays of disassociated and broken lines. The show was hugely popular, catapulting him to stardom as he toured the UK over the next six months and creating, as described by Buckley, a "cult of Bowie" that was "unique—its influence lasted longer and has been more creative than perhaps almost any other force within pop fandom" (Buckley, 2005).We went to the concert clean (Thames Valley Police being notorious in those days), but after found the car had gone, and police came out and surrounded us as we looked for it. Filled with an incredible number of Mick Rock's incredible photos, plus some fascinating insights from David Bowie himself into the creative process behind the Ziggy era. In the process of Mick Rock's start to become a rock photographer we get to see his visual documentation as he follows David Bowie around, annotated by Bowie himself. Alongside the stunning photos are setlists, tour notes, newspaper articles, pencil sketches, and early lyrics and interview notes. Rock is best remembered for taking iconic and immersive images of David Bowie, Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Queen, the Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Blondie and many others.
