The Garden Spike Roller is a simple tool used to aerate your lawn, helping to generate healthy grass growth. Hollow tining – as it sounds, hollow tines are pushed into the ground to remove cylindrical plugs of turf, around a centimetre wide and a few centimetres deep. Spike shoes - these are cheap and easy to use and most effective on soft – but not soggy - ground in small gardens.

It has folding handles for easy storage, a dual start system for safety, and a built-in thermal cut out if it overheats. Manual aerators - although these are useful tools, which can do specific jobs (see above), using them requires a lot of effort as it gets tiring, even on a small lawn. The handle can be adjusted in 3 positions, and also the roller has rotating nails to dig in the ground.

If we are unable to resolve the issue for you with replacement parts or a full replacement, we will arrange free collection of the item and issue you a full refund. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. It needs assembling, which is simple to do, and everything fits together well - although you’ll need a wrench or something similar, to attach the nylon-thread bolts. At 60cm wide it’s one of the largest machines we tested, but is still easy to manoeuvre and comes with a 10m cable.The roller is equipped with rotating nails that effectively dig into the ground, promoting optimal aeration. It also comes with a two-year warranty, so we felt as an entry-level aerator, this was a perfectly good option.
