NOTE: There are two released editions of this headphone. The first has brightly colored red accents. The second released one has darker maroon accents and the highs have been subdued quite a bit and are more tolerable now but sound the same otherwise. I don't believe they sell the original anymore.

Surprisingly, these headphones are very comfortable to wear for long periods. This is where the lightweight plastic body and elastic headband show their value. The ear cups are large enough to cover most average ears and because of the auto-adjustable headband, the headphones do not tend to wrap too tightly around the ears. However, one complaint is the padding on the earcups, many complain that the cushioning on the earpads is not as soft as they like to be and it feels a little awkward when the ears aren’t fully covered. update] Well, what i just did, i kinda use a tissue paper and that really reduces the sharpness of the treble. Well, mainly because i just want my ears to be less sweaty when wearing but that really improve the treble. Keskialueella toisto on kuivahkoa. The AKG pads are a must for any of these Superluxes, so 662 will probably end up both more expensive and to whatever extent inferior in sound quality. Also my 681's are quite heavily modded and have a filter to reduce the treble energy to the degree I've found pleasing. The sound itself is wrapped on top of a big hearted bass. The bottom end is ramped up, very similar to the HD681 of old. However, the treble is less edgy so the headphone seems warmer and more bass focused. However, there is also a peak in the treble giving the top end a nice 'bite.' Pros: Spacious sound with good clarity, depth and punch making them ideal for gaming. Gorgeously musical. Ridiculous price. The self-adjusting headband of the Superlux HD681 offers an oustanding level of comfort. This design is inspired by the headbands of AKG headphones , which AKG has been using for decades already. The reduced amount of material needed to construct the headband results in a cumulative lighter weight of the headphone as a whole. In the case of 668B, relative to the normal 681 it has to do mostly with the treble. The 668B has a bit less treble emphasis and more prominent lower midrange. The end result being a bit warmer and more balanced sound. The treble is the only area I took found an issue with when it came to sound. The treble definitely had some kind of bright spike to it. It brought up some unusual high frequency artifacts in some songs. Still, with a little EQ work, the piercing brightness faded.

Quality - feels great, metal construction, sound can easily compete vs 4 times more expensive headphones. Well, is not the worst but feels not too comfy. The pad is the worst feeling ever. My ear gets sweaty and hot (maybe because im not used to wear PU pads). Most says to change to other pads that fits to the AKG K240, preferably velour one. so i think i will. (will DT880 pad fits?) Since they are "semi-open" the sound isn't contained, so others can hear what you are listening to and the sound from the surrounding environment creeps in without much resistance. This is another reason I don't see the 681's as ideal for use on a commute or in an office environment, unless you need to be aware of your surroundings. I don't think you have to crank the volume up much to get a really decent level of sound with these either. It comes with two cables that are easily attached to the headphone. One is nice and short for using with portable equipment and another to lengthen the lead. EVO pleather pads seem to be a bit different to the originals and coupled with the new design of the headphone, they seem to be slightly more comfortable. For musics, so far all genre is good to go, and with amp and tuning equalizer the result will be more impressive. I'm just a normal home user who enjoy music but not in professional way so it is consider extra good for me except the wire is a bit too long for me (which i dont need too long). So i coil it and I think it is not a very big deal with it. In terms of portability, HD681 is not very suitable for mobility use as it looks too much adopted in studio monitor (the design is cool wearing in indoor) and big size. The mids came out astoundingly clear for the price. Vocals are well done and crisp. Not too much I can say about this -- I found the mids to be very pleasing. I happened to be building a soft synth in Pure Data one evening, and decided to generate some frequencies to find out what I could hear at 59 years of age. I managed to take the frequency to about 17k and could hear it still through the headphones. That's higher than a Shure SM58 captures.
