Description

The Hubb Community Kitchen is a group of women who have come together to prepare fresh food for their local community.

Together is a storybook of this West London community, showcasing over 50 delicious recipes from the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen and including a foreword by HRH The Duchess of Sussex.I was so excited when I finally bought and the received this book, I knew I wanted a copy as soon as I found out Meghan was releasing this book. Opening it and seeing all the recipes, I was amazed at all the different cultures that had been laced into the book. Then, you top the whole saucey situation with eggs and serve it from the pan. But not until, I realized, the strong scent permeates your entire being and building: My guests said they smelled what this Duchess was cooking from down the hall. Together: Our Community Cookbook is written by the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, with a very thoughtful and heartfelt foreword by Meghan Markle. “In January 2018, as I was settling in to my new home in London, it was important to me to get to know organizations working in the local community,” she writes in the cookbook foreword. That community outreach is what brought Markle to the Hubb kitchen in Al-Manaar, a place she promptly felt embraced by. “I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together,” writes Markle. Together is the ultimate guide to reconnecting with the ones you love through the medium of good food.

The women invite you to make their favourite simple dishes – many handed down over generations – from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Eastern Mediterranean for you and your loved ones. If it's cake," he began, "let it be cake! If it's bread, let it be bread. I don't know what I'm working with here." His uncertainty didn't appear to affect his appetite: "I just like food," he explained as he carefully extracted the olives and sun-dried tomatoes, pushed them toward the corner of his plate, and piled the cake's remains onto his fork. "Is there meat in here?" (There wasn't.) Together is a real homage to the great home feast, something I have really missed sharing with friends and family over the past year. So many people find real joy in a shared meal, have rediscovered a love of cooking or perhaps even given it a go for the first time. So this book is all about arming readers with easy recipes for dinner parties, celebrations, special occasions, or just a good old get together with their nearest and dearest. I wanted the recipes to feel like a culinary light at the end of the tunnel, where food can be enjoyed and savoured. This is about giving you an excuse to get the people you love around the table again. ” Jamie OliverAfter being displaced following the Grenfell tower fire, some of the local women needed a place to cook fresh food for their families. They began to use the kitchen at the Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, where the women who worked there had been using the facilities to cook for the community. They all shared the kitchen for two days every week, preparing food and eating together. Word spread and more local women began to join in, embracing community and supporting their neighbours in their time of need. The recipe was fairly straightforward: you combine the dry ingredients then add the eggs and remaining items. This is such a missed opportunity! Where this is such an awesome cause, this book (difficult to call it a cookbook) is not worthy of what it’s supposed to embrace. I am a food lover of all types of cuisine and have far tastier curries in my recipe box.

The recipe, which was written by Cherine Mallah, is a tuna, olive, and sun-dried tomato cake. I had to try it—even though "Harry" generally loathes every ingredient it calls for besides cheese. Soon there were women from different cultures all cooking, swapping recipes, talking and laughing. As they cooked, they began to connect, heal and look forward, and have continued to cook together twice a week.Who is the author? Best-selling cookbook author, cookery show star, health campaigner, and the man rightly credited with changing the way Brits cook and eat. Jamie Oliver needs no further introduction. in my permanent cookbook collection and continue digging through. TY Megs! (And please send me your ?!)
