Now, although the heroes in the book are almost equally divided between men and women, I get the general feel that this book also wants to show that Muslim women are brave, powerful, and can take matters into their own hands (and rightly so in the eyes of Islam) and does not have to fit into the stereotype of oppressed women.

I really enjoyed this and think this is a must-have for any school, library, or home-book collection. Although I knew about most of the people in this book it was still just as engaging as if I had been reading about these wonderful people for the first time. Her inspirations are rooted in the city of and in her experiences of growing up in a Bengali-Muslim household.
