In all honesty, this is one of the least problematic yaoi series I've read as of now, even if it's still twisted as it is. The reason I still like it though is because instead of being heteronormative and misleading about being gay, it openly accepts that a gay relationship is a relationship between two men, not a man who acts like an overly submissive man and an overly abusively agressive alpha man. Kyouichi is a married man who has been cheating on his wife with a mistress. One day, he is approached by his university friend Imagase, who presents incriminating evidence of his adultery. Imagase works as a private detective, recently hired by Kyouichi's wife to investigate his infidelity. In exchange for keeping the affair a secret, Kyouichi reluctantly agrees to share a passionate kiss with Imagase. The thing is, Ootomo has always been very conscious of the fact that he's not gay, unlike Imagase. He mentioned in an earlier restaurant scene that his world (the non-gay world) is different from Imagase's world (the gay world) and how Imagase's ex-boyfriend would be a better fit for Imagase because they were both gays. But despite knowing that he (Ootomo) does not belong to Imagase's world, he (Ootomo) still chose to be with Imagase and have a proper relationship with him (hence their first sex). But after Imagase told Ootomo that Ootomo was not right for him and that he (Imagase) was not right for Ootomo, Ootomo realised that even if he tried to make the relationship work, it still wouldn't work out because they were from different worlds. He could not satisfy Imagase the way a proper gay man might and this ate at him. I've read the manga on which the movie was based - it's one of my favourites because the main characters in it were incredibly flawed and insecure people but their insecurities and issues were just so relatable and understandable, I found myself immersed in their characters and in their story. Now, as an adaptation of the manga itself, I'd give this movie a 65% score in terms of its closeness to the original work i.e. it was generally faithful in broad strokes and in some detailed places, but there were still fairly noticeable differences, especially in terms of character vibe and personality and in some event modifications. Hence, I can understand why fans of the manga might feel disappointed or dissatisfied with this adaptation.

I liked that. I will say straight up that I wasn't a massive fan of this series-- but it was a personal preference of not being into the plot all the much. The manga itself was objectively well done. Let's go into the specifics. A story of a cat and a cornered mouse Note: This character-driven movie has explicit sexual content and nudity. Also, do read the sequel. They complement eachother and give more meaning to Kyouichi's conflicting soul-searching and a clearer view on Imagase's feelings for his sempai. After their first encounter, Imagase catches Kyouichi cheating yet again. When Imagase threatens to tell the truth to his wife, Kyouichi tempts him with another making-out session. This time, the two of them go beyond just kissing, as their secret tryst takes on a sexual nature. Although Imagase didn't expose the affair as promised, Kyouichi's wife is so unhappy with her marriage that she leaves him anyway.I almost cried while watching The cornered mouse dreams of cheese, i was so close, but i stoped myself. I remember SEI NO GEKIYAKU did make me cry and Life sejou no bokura and To my star was close, they definitely give me goosebumps hahaha. I really rarely cry when i watch movies and drama, so they have to be really good when i get goosepums, i`m about to cry or really manage to make me cry. himself hanging on the very same thoughts as he pursues a relationship with his kouhai from college, Imagase. For them, sex is the absolute acceptance of each other's demons. The characters are extremely flawed in a good way. They slowly strip themselves from all the social and conventional layers that get in the way and reveal themselves as humans. First, because Imagase didn't felt that until that moment(that night), Kyoichi has showed him that he love him enough, that he will be willing to seriously want to be together with him. He didn't think he will really break up with Tamaki, even if he told him he will, and he wanted to give him a way out by leaving, so if he didn't really mean'it to break up with her, then he can put the blame on him, when he will chose her. Later, while on an assignment, Imagase spots Tamaki going to a gynecologist and notices that she is being stalked by his target, but he is too late in stopping him, resulting in Tamaki falling down a flight of stairs. At the hospital, Kyouichi reunites with Imagase, and Imagase begs him to let him be in his life, to which he rejects. Before Imagase leaves, Kyouichi confesses about his frustrations with him and admits their relationship has been dysfunctional. The two make up, and Kyouichi ends his relationship with Tamaki, to which he is met with scorn from their co-worker. After he turns to Imagase, the two decide to live together again, uncertain about what their future may bring. His (2020)- i didn`t really enjoyed it as i expected, because of the actors, i wish they casted someone else, one of the main actors is really not a good actor.

The story was pretty standard. I won't spoil anything, but it's about repressed sexual feelings and people's natures and how different they are from eachother. Does it have cliche moments? Yes. But is it realistic about human nature? Definitely. That's why I liked how the story was handled-- it was very real. way for Imagase to create a new connection with him. Unfortunately, Imagase, a past underclassman of his, is a hired investigator of his wife. Imagase knows the bad stench of the relationship. Kyouichi’s gone frantic. He’s confused. He is dead meat if this news arrives to his wife. But Imagase assures him that his little play arounds with different mistresses will end up like a bubble with an exchange of one little thing.

Initially, I didn't love the ending in The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, which deviated from the original manga. Those who torture themselves over faithful adaptions will probably HATE this polarizing ending. However, the more I thought about it afterwards, the more I learned to appreciate the symbolism behind how the movie concluded. There's beautiful artistry to this opaque ending, which carries a subtle sense of optimism beneath the bleakness on the surface.Mizushiro Setona ( 水城せとな in Japanese, or 水城雪可奈 in Chinese language) is a popular mangaka who started out in the dōjinshi circles. I usually steer clear of yaoi. I do read adult mangas from time to time and I don't mind yuri, but I'd gag at the thought of gay men sex scenes. The sex scenes are all too good. They're revigorating and exciting. Trust me, this comes from a person that disliked yaoi at first. There's no clear separation from the sex and the dialogues in between, so don't think on skipping them. I hope that in a few years, my film will be received as another ‘ordinary’ love story,” Yukisada said. “We as individuals meet others, fall in love — whether it be between men and men, women and women, or women and men — and hurt each other. That is all the same. I wish that we could all understand ‘other’ forms of love than what we are used to.”
