Unfortunately, Chloe and Zoey are going to be SUPERdisappointed when I break the bad news that I’ve changed my mind. That scary dream has me worried that if even the TINIEST thing goes wrong, my birthday could turn into a complete DISASTER. Dork Diaries OMG!: All About Me Diary! (October 8, 2013) is an activity book which offers a prompt for the reader to answer for each day of the year. I am not telling that the Dork Diaries are bad because they aren't bad (they are actually pretty good) HOWEVER is a lot distinct from the Wimpy Kid books. For once, my life will be DRAMA FREE!! WOO-HOO 😃! Not likely! This is Nikki we’re talking about. She still hasn’t decided if she will be spending two weeks in Paris (all expenses paid) or going on tour with her band (you know, totally normal people problems), she’s annoyed by her sister’s culinary mash ups and freaking out about whatever potential disaster may unfold during the birthday party her two best friends are planning for her. Just imagine a FABULOUS and FUN bash at the Westchester Country Club with a band, DJ, all-you-can-eat pizza, ice-cream sundae bar, two hundred of my closest friends, my loyal BFFs, my adorkable CRUSH, and a humongous birthday cake.

Sorry! But if I dramatically dashed out of the royal ball at midnight in a glamorous, enchanted gown and lost my beautiful glass slipper, I’d step right in a pile of DOG POOP!

Have you read this book…

The worse thing about Dork Diaries is how Nikki (the MC) repeats at every single book (that I read) the same mantra/sentence: ''But I just said it inside my head, so no one else heard it but me.'' Nikki Maxwell has never been popular but now she’s started at a new school, she’s hoping to leave her old dorky ways behind.

This book was a pretty good! It was a little overdramatic in some parts though. I think the title fits the book well! It says "Tales from a Not-So-Popular Party Girl," and it is about a girl named Nikki, who is unpopular, setting up a Halloween party for her school. She must make a dance for the students in her school. I think this book title suits the book well also, because "Dork Diaries" is a good name for a unpopular girl writing a diary. With a HUGE global fanbase, Dork Diaries is the perfect series for fans of Lottie Brooks, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Tom Gates. I loved this series first books. Books 1-6 are all amazing. 7, 8 and 9 are also really worth the read. But something just happened around book 10. It's like if Barbie were in book form, she'd be books 10-13. At least that's the vibe I get. Maybe I'm just getting too old for these books (I'm in my last year of junior high). The problem is I have no idea what happened with this series. The earlier books are so good and they slowly became...this. I enjoyed it well enough, but it's like 'problem. problem solved. problem. problem solved. problem. oh, wait that wasn't a problem at all!' repeat cycle. This book was confusing, slightly weird and the story isn't whole. I sound like I'm just saying," The old Dork Diaries were better!" and theywere in my opinion. But if this is the way Rachel Renee Russell wants her books to go, I'll stop ranting. Her books, her choice. I think she's changed the books' target demographic to much younger and I don't have a problem with that. If I can't enjoy these books anymore, that's my headache. Follow Nikki's adorkable life through sketches, doodles and diary entries as she shares all the details of her not-so-fabulous life full of BFF drama, hopeless crushes and an extremely cringe-worthy family. There’s no character development and “SQUEEE 😃!!”, which was kinda cute for the first few books, is really annoying me now. I understand that catchphrases can be important in the continuity of a series but I would have liked to have seen some new ones added to the ones that have been used for 13 books now. I’m also over Nikki throwing up in her mouth a little; she did it four times in this book alone.Setting…. The setting of this book is in a lot of places. One place is Nikki’s school. A few other places are Nikki’s house and the zoo. The zoo is wear she had to go to the dance at dressed in a rat costume. Bacle, Ariana. "Summits nabs rights to 'Dork Diaries' book series."
