Description

Unlike traditional straighteners, the unique flexing plates of the Dyson Corrale straightener mould to the hair section being styled. This gives you more control and creates better styling results. As the plates adapt to the hair, they apply tension evenly and stop any strands separating, reducing frizz and flyaways.

The Dyson Corrale is the product of the three that I’ve used the least, in part, because it’s the latest addition to my arsenal of beauty tools, but also because my hair is naturally quite straight anyway, and I only really straighten my hair if I’m going ‘out out’. This was an improvement on what we had before, but it resulted in a bulky device with most of its weight in the top rear of the device. This isn’t exactly ideal for something you hold above your head; we’ve experienced more than one thump to the head thanks to a weary arm. The Corrale straightener is also suitable for all hair types and features Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control for precise temperature control. What’s more is that they have a safety feature that switches them off after 10 minutes of inactivity for added peace of mind. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryercomes with magnetic styling attachments for easy fitting and rotation during styling, including a Flyaway attachment for smoothing, the Dyson Styling concentrator, diffuser, gentle air attachment and wide tooth comb. What sets the device apart from competitors like Sharkis that it has a small, powerful Dyson V9 digital motor, which is on average six times faster than other hair dryer motors. Combined with Air Multiplier technology, it produces a high-pressure, high-velocity jet of controlled air, for fast drying and precision styling. I previously reviewed the Dyson Airwrap and rated it better than the cheaper Shark FlexStyle alternative, praising it for its ease of use, speed and results. Again, Dyson knows how to make a good-looking tool, as it really looks the part. It’s lightweight, and has a seamless and well thought out design that makes switching from hot to cool a breeze. The attachments connect to the barrel of the hair dryer magnetically, which is a simple design change, but it makes fitting and removing them a much smoother process. They also have solid lips on their edges through which the hot air doesn’t blow, and as a result remain cool, which makes changing the attachment a more comfortable process.

Combined with Air Multiplier technology, it produces a high-pressure, high-velocity jet of controlled air, for fast drying and precision styling. The Dyson Supersonic has dramatically reduced my hair drying time and turned my much loathed chore into my favouriteInstead of a lengthy barrel and a clunky system of rotors, filters and vents, Dyson has shrunk the V9 motor in the Supersonic down to slightly smaller than a quarter or a 10p coin, and placed it at the bottom of the handle with a rubber mount. This sleek, thin handle extends to a circular ring, with two buttons on the shaft – the power, and cold shot buttons – and two on the rear of the ring; one that controls its three air speeds, another for selecting one of its three temperature settings. What’s more is that there’s no need to faff around swapping barrels for different curl directions, like you do with the Shark. There’s a little toggle on the top of the barrel that will change the direction of the airflow, so you only need to use one. While I do love the Airwrap, I do find that my curls don’t hold as well as I’d like, though this is more down to the fact I need to do some more research on the best products to use alongside it, rather than the device itself. But it does mean that I don’t find myself reaching for it as often as I would like, that said, it is still my favourite styler of its kind. Dyson Supersonic

Human hair is going to be damaged by brushing and heat no matter what, but past 302 degree F / 150 degree C the damage becomes irreversible and more noticeable, so by keeping airflow temperature in the optimal safe zone and instead upping the airflow pressure the Dyson Supersonic is able to prevent this. It comes with an array of attachments for smoothing, and blowdrying, but of course the most popular is the curling barrels for creating at home bouncy blowouts as though you’ve just left the salon. Dyson has a history of throwing out the rulebook when it comes to designing products – ditching the bag in its vacuums; replacing blades with vents in its fans – so it’s no surprise its Supersonic doesn’t look like a traditional hair dryer.

Most people wash their hair at least a couple of times a week, while others do so every day - I’m an every-other-day kind of hair washer, and with a busy lifestyle, the last thing I ever want to be doing is spending an hour making sure my ends are dry. So, not to be dramatic but the Supersonic changed my life. I never used to curl my hair because it’s so long, it would take forever and by the time I’d finished one side the other would drop. The Airwrap takes considerably less time than a wand or curling iron, creating salon-worthy curls in minutes rather than hours.Launched in 2020, they’re the first straightener that uses patented flexing plates that help shape to gather the hair and deliver enhanced styling with half the damage compared to leading competitors. All this means you won’t have to deal with that metallic burning smell that you sometimes get when you use other hair dryers for a long period of time. And you also won’t have to deal with the worrying smell of burning hair, as the microprocessor keeps the airflow temperature stable and under 302 degree F / 150 degree C no matter what. The Dyson Supersonic should feel heavier than it does, due to its 1.5 lb / 659g weight, but this repositioning of parts means its weight is spread out more evenly than with traditional dryers. We found this significantly reduced arm ache during use. We were also able to hold the dryer closer to our hair, which made blow-drying the roots fair easier than with bulkier hair dryers.
