While all of our monitors provide a fantastic base image quality of 1080p, many of the better models offer screens that support 1440p and 4K resolution options as well as a wide-range of aspect ratios. If you do not want to break the bank but still want a visual boost, a 1440p 27 inch monitor could be just what you are after. For pure gaming, then, there are probably better optimised options. But as an all-round, ultra-luxury, money-no-object PC monitor, this is as good as it currently gets, flaws and all. What you're looking at, in effect, is a pair of 32-inch 240Hz 4K gaming monitors fused into a single 57-inch ultra-curved panel. So, that's no fewer than 7,680 by 2,160 pixels, or just over 16.5 million in total and twice that of 4K.

As for picture quality, the Dell S2722DGM is a reasonably punchy and vibrant monitor considering it's a pure SDR panel. The strong inherent contrast certainly helps with that, ensuring you don't feel short-changed running games like Cyberpunk 2077, which support HDR, in SDR mode. But you know what? This monitor delivers. At this price point we were willing to make a few excuses. But that's not actually necessary. The Pixio PXC277 Advanced does almost everything pretty well. The monitor includes built-in speakers which are, in every way, pretty terrible. The weak, tinny audio output leaves budget laptops producing better sound, and at maximum loudness the sound is pretty quiet. The built-in headphone port is equally weak, offering very little power to drive anything but wired earbuds with low impedance at a decent volume, and worse yet the onboard digital audio converter (DAC) produces tinny sound that’s handily beaten by any other headphone or speaker output you may have available on your PC. It’ll do the job in a pinch, but even so you’ll want to consider using another device for sound at all times. And it feels very much good for 2ms. This is a snappy little panel. In subjective terms, it looks little different to the best 1ms GtG IPS monitors. Sure, you could tease out the differences with high speed photography, but in terms of actual gameplay, motion blur is kept to a thoroughly acceptable minimum. Enabling Overdrive on supporting monitors can improve your monitor’s response time, which can help to reduce ghosting and reduce input latency, making you a more accurate and responsive gamer. All gamers look for different things when it comes to choosing gaming equipment and games to play. Therefore, there is no one size fits all when it comes to choosing a gaming monitor. Most monitors come with a fast response time that in return produces little to no motion blur and lag. This will surely enhance your gaming experience. There are many more features that can further enhance your overall experience, such as the inputs available as well as the refresh rate

The results on colour accuracy are great; an average delta E value of less than 2 is fantastic and wouldn’t be out of place on much more expensive screens. Likewise, the gamma curve is absolutely spot on and one of the best we’ve seen. Post-calibration, we were able to improve the depth of images, and skin tones looked a little less pasty as well, but we don’t expect many people buying this screen will be the sort to calibrate it, so it’s good that out of the box it’s already a strong showing. So the last thing to discuss would the monitors choice of resolution, it is not 4K or Full HD its 2560 x 1440 QHD. Now currently PC gamers seem to prefer this resolution even myself as getting good FPS with graphically intense games is rather difficult, 1440 seem to be the sweet spot. The use of 144hz and getting a good FPS is something you need to achieve otherwise what is the point, you have a monitor that can truly give you amazing visuals, but you simply are not getting the FPS to give you these sweet visuals. Hop in game and it’s just as impressive. We’ll never tire of the buttery smooth goodness that is 144Hz. But combined with the crazy-sharp detail that comes with the 4K pixel grid, well, it’s pretty special. I daily use the Nixeus NX-VUE24A and the BenQ XL2730Z, I ditched my IPS gaming monitors for the amazing smooth game play I can get with both of these. While they are TN panels the game play experience in no way suffers and the Freesync implementation in both is outstanding. When it comes to monitors, there are two main types: standard external speakers and monitor speakers. They are typically better quality speakers that are included with the monitor and are more optimized for gaming, studying, and other activities. When it comes to monitor speakers, standard external speakers are significantly less expensive.

In terms of build quality though I can’t find any faults whatsoever. It feels solidly built, on a sturdy stand which in all honesty I thought may not be sufficient enough to hold the screen firmly in place. But despite slamming my desk on many occasions when playing Paladins the screen hasn’t wobbled once. Nexigo even includes a handy remote that can be used to navigate the on-screen display (OSD). Toss in stereo speakers to blast some tunes on the go, and the NG17FGQ makes a great travel companion for gamers and productivity-minded folks alike.

I am hearing that the QA issues have finally been resolved but I feel that for the price point quality should not be a crap shoot, but the norm. Beyond those headline figures, the PG34WQ15R2B certainly is promising. Predictably, it's based on VA rather than IPS panel tech given the appealing pricing. That typically means compromising on pixel response performance, but not necessarily by a huge amount.

1MS Response Time (MPRT)

Contrast is also strong for an IPS panel, hitting 1,129.1:1 after our calibration. And for those concerned about speed, this 165 Hz screen kept up with the 170 Hz Gigabyte M27Q in our testing We'd steer clear of MPRT mode, which hammers the panel's brightness and vibrancy. 'Extreme' mode, which is rated at 2ms, does suffer from a whiff of overshoot, but that's only just visible in-game, while 'Super fast' resolves the overshoot but allows just a little smearing of darker tones. Graphics tech synchronizes a game's framerate with your monitor's refresh rate to help prevent screen tearing by syncing your GPU frame rate to the display's maximum refresh rate. Turn V-Sync on in your games for a smoother experience, but you'll lose information, so turn it off for fast-paced shooters (and live with the tearing). Useful if you have an older model display that can't keep up with a new GPU.

I was concerned that the size of the monitor was too small for 1440p resolution, but at arm’s length the viewing distance is perfect for normal (100%) scaling within Windows, and the image still plenty large enough to enjoy for gaming. The pixel density is just enough that the additional render load of 1440p is justified, as I doubt 4K would look significantly better at 27” for how much strain it puts on a graphics card. The gaming performance despite the panel performance initially was very good. I found that there was fluid gameplay even in fast moving situations. Overall, great response time. The refresh rate was really great paired with AMD FreeSync. For many, disabling it in-game is one of the first settings they change, while others don’t mind keeping it on. Some monitors come with motion blur as an option, so decide whether it’s a feature you like and disable or enable it to your preferences. Sharpening

Features

One huge irritant with Smart TVs is they can't wake and sleep in tandem with your PC. Not so with the Swift. This Alienware does have a brightness limiter, but it's far less aggressive than on most LG-equipped monitors and you barely notice it happening. More to the point, this monitor always looks punchy, which you absolutely cannot say of monitors with LG OLED tech.
