Florabotanica is a good illustration of where most big brands, even those that start out with good intentions, end up as they chase market success. The first launch by Balenciaga, Balenciaga Paris, was a transparent violet leaf composition that wouldn’t be out of place in the L’Artisan Parfumeur collection. Not surprisingly, it didn’t take off that well. People need time to appreciate something unfamiliar, and the only way to do this is to support the brand and spend resources on educating the staff. In other words, you need time, money, and some new marketing tactics, all of which are in short supply at most fragrance houses today. Balenciaga Florabotanica includes notes of green leaves, hemp, carnation, mint, rose, vetiver, and amber. Available from Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and other major retailers. Well, what can I say: Me and FLORA! And also BOTANICA! I'm surprised it's gonna work out. I'm surprised myself. Because the scent is really beautiful, although I don't usually have it with flowers. And with other green stuff like stems, leaves etc. also not. Let them stay where they grow. But already with the first sprayer I was positively surprised. And I was even more surprised when my sweetheart, who is developing an ever finer nose, said in a test sniff of my arm: "He has something, something individual. Smells really good!" Well, and he's right! I smell it all day long, and I don't need to spray it again. Never before have I received so many compliments for a fragrance. Ingredients had read. I could not initially elicit what smelled so good here. But it smelled, smelled, just wonderful. As I understand it, Paris has become from the perspective of Balenciaga a cult fragrance embraced by an older age demographic than for whom it was intended. It’s something you can safely buy for your mom or anyone else’s mom, or a sister in law who isn’t really into perfume, I kind of mentally file it next to Private Collection Jasmine White Moss. And while I think it’s nice, Paris does bore me.But that is not so, the two fragrances can not really compare. Cristalle is and remains my great love. At first I thought that this was a completely new fragrance, but then I saw that the already exists since 2012. In this late autumn, which is still relatively warm, I still have no desire for cuddly fragrances. But summer scents are also out for me now. So we had to find another "in-between thing". Woman never has the right thing - neither to wear nor to scent. Amber makes this freshness soft after 1 to 2 hours and the fragrance changes from "freshly showered" to "freshly creamed".

So if you are looking for a fragrance that is floral, not sweet, but fresh, not pompous, but cool, and which feels like a second skin at the end, you should definitely try it out. I don't smell mint myself. This means that I would have imagined this actually present note to be present as well. But it doesn't matter. Florabotanica simply smells pleasantly flowery, fresh, but not too fresh, and with me also powdery. Clean, but not too neat. Fortunately not too green and not too bitter. Sweet, but not. I'm not. So, after the perfunctory flanker to Balenciaga Paris, L’Essence, we have Florabotanica. It was composed by perfumers Olivier Polge (who also created Balenciaga Paris) and Jean-Christophe Hérault. The inspiration behind Florabotanica is described by Balenciaga as “ not just a pretty flower, but a pretty dangerous flower.” This time Balenciaga took no risks. If you find transparent roses dangerous, then yes, I suppose that Florabotanica is right on the mark. I found it just pretty and meek. Only: Florabotanica awakens in me a longing for a far journey, in distant lands where opulent flowers bloom, where exotic fruits grow, where the sun burns hot all year round, where the sea roars wildly, where green forests stretch endlessly...

I discovered this perfume in a crowded elevator, where it smelled so good that I didn't want to get out. Then I asked aloud: "who is that? Who smells so good"? He is wonderful and definitely a darling every days. Suitable for everyday life in the office as well as for the evening. Caladia leaf, yes how does that smell the? Probably it is the green that I perceive. But it is not specifically recognizable to me. Wishing that all of my US friends stay safe, dry and prepared as the storm approaches!
