No. You can go to the toilet as normal when wearing a menstrual cup. Some people prefer to remove their menstrual cup for a bowel movement but the choice is yours. Does a period cup smell? Our Leakproof Lace & Mesh Collection was designed in Paris with beautiful sheer mesh and soft-stretch European lace. The silky soft recycled poly body fabric is made of post-consumer recycled water bottles to help clean up landfill and ocean-bound plastic. Recycled never looked so good. Who says you can’t make a statement on your period? Tampons are getting a lot of press these days because of toxic components not required to be listed in the ingredients. We're seeing a major shift in the marketplace where consumers are actively choosing safer and healthier options for themselves and the environment. From high-quality materials to clean manufacturing processes, Saalt Wear leakproof underwear is a remarkably safe and simple solution for period care. Some of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX®️ and bluesign®️ approved, which are internationally recognized standards for making textiles cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Our Comfort Brief and Boyshort, Leakproof Seamless Brief, Leakproof Mesh Hipster, Leakproof High Waist Brief, and Leakproof French Cut High Waist are available in heavy absorbency that is made for your heavy flow days or free bleeding and hold 3-4 regular tampons (3–4 tsp or 15–20 ml) worth of flow.

Saalt Wear is available in three absorbency levels. Remember that knowing your flow will help determine how long you can wear your leakproof underwear before changing. *A light tampon typically holds 2-3 mL and a regular tampon holds 5mL on average for reference. You shouldn't be able to feel the cup at all once it's in place. If you can feel it, it's not inserted properly or you need to trim/cut off the stem. If it's definitely in place and the stem has been trimmed then it's possible that it's not quite the right cup for you. It will still work but isn't the optimum cup for you. Read our article on "choosing a menstrual cup."We also have a "menstrual cup comparison chart" to help you find the perfect one for you. Do I have to remove the menstrual cup when I go to the toilet?Yes you can but you have to be really careful with the strings. You must make sure you break the seal before you take it out so there is no pressure put on the strings. Full Details In Our Article "Menstrual Cup and IUD." Can I swim with my menstrual cup in? Saalt launched in February 2018 and has since created over 30 products with the intention of making period care more “natural, distinct, simple, and elemental.” The company offers menstrual cup options according to sizing, silicone firmness, and even age. If you’re not sure what type of cup will work for you, Saalt has a cup quiz to help you choose. Cups come in different sizes so change frequency is also influenced by the capacity of the cup. Read our full article "How Often To Empty Your Menstrual Cup." Can I put a menstrual cup in before my period starts? After leaving the cup in for about eight hours, I decided to remove it and switch to a panty liner while I slept. But removing the cup was an entirely different experience than inserting it. It took me about 15 minutes to take it out. The action of removing the cup itself wasn’t quite as easy as the instructions made it sound, and I had to do some maneuvering to understand how to comfortably take it out. Don’t be fooled by the stem — I learned the hard way that the stem is not a pull tab. The instructions do tell you not to grab the stem, but when I first approached this daunting task, I didn’t necessarily see another option.

After your period, rinse your menstrual disc in cold water first to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash thoroughly using our all-natural Saalt Wash or hot water and mild soap. Avoid strong cleaners or anything that may irritate your skin if not completely washed off. Use a soft rag to wipe away any buildup. Then sanitize your disc by placing it in a pot of boiling water for 4–5 minutes (but not more than 7 min). Use tongs or a whisk to make sure the disc doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot. When boiling your disc is not an option, you may sanitize it by rinsing it with water and then thoroughly wiping your disc (and all its nooks and crannies) with a soft rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the alcohol to evaporate and you’re good to go! The Leakproof Seamless Collection includes light, regular, and heavy absorbency styles. The Seamless Thong is made for your light flow days and holds 1–2 light tampons (~ 1 tsp or 3–6 ml) worth of flow. The Seamless Bikini and High Waist are both made for your regular flow days and hold 2–3 regular tampons (2–3 tsp or 10–15 ml) worth of flow. Finally, the Seamless Brief comes in both regular absorbency and heavy absorbency which holds 3-4 regular tampons (3–4 tsp or 15–20 ml) worth of flow. Saalt Menstrual Cups are a healthy and sustainable alternative to pads and tampons that are better for you and better for the planet.

We're here to get you to period bliss.

A cup doesn't absorb vaginal moisture so it doesn't dry you out, they are comfortable and can't be felt once correctly in place. Life changing is how I describe my cup! More details in our full article "Can I Use A Menstrual Cup If Tampons Don't Work For Me." Can you have sex with a menstrual cup in? Once I pinched the bottom of the cup itself, I was able to pull it out. Not without breaking a sweat — but all that matters is that I got it out eventually. For the rest of the night, I felt some discomfort internally. I felt quite a bit of pressure around my cervix, suggesting that maybe the cup is too big for me. All of that pain subsided once I was ready to reinsert it the next morning. However, just like the day before, I felt that same discomfort the next time I took it out. I figured my body would familiarize itself with that sensation, but surprisingly after a week, the pain (which I rate a 4 out of 10) continued every time I took out the cup. Because I do love the product, I will probably look into getting a smaller size for my next period, just to make sure I’m providing myself the most comfort possible.
